Charvel's all-new ultimate in sonic sophistication and design virtuosity is the Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 2 24 HH 2PT CM Ash - a stunning summit of modern Charvel® vibe, power and performance.

Starting with one of the most beloved and iconic body shapes, Charvel's innovative design team sculpted even more dramatic curves for enhanced ergonomic comfort. The ash So-Cal Style 2 body also features a scalloped lower back bout and shredder's cut heel for easier upper fret access and hours of grin-inducing playing-feel and performance.

A graphite-reinforced bolt-on maple neck offers rock-solid stability regardless of ravages of the road and climate, while a heel-mount truss rod adjustment thumbwheel makes for quick and easy neck relief tweaks. Engineered for effortlessly nimble and highly-expressive playing, the So-Cal Style 2 has a speed neck profile with hand-rubbed urethane finish on the back and a 12"-16" compound radius caramelized maple fingerboard with 24 jumbo frets, pearloid dot inlays and Graph Tech® TUSQ® XL nut. Luminlay® side dots will guide your way along the fretboard, even on the darkest of stages.

Built for unparalleled performance and versatile sound, this instrument is equipped with multi-voiced Fishman® Fluence® Open Core PRF-COC pickups for layered, dynamic tone. The bridge pickup delivers quintessential hot-rodded humbucking tone without all the baggage (voice one), or ideal vintage PAF humbucking tone calibrated for perfect output (voice two). Similarly, the neck pickup delivers a Fluence-exclusive tone with clear and airy chime, unbelievable high end, highly vocal midrange and tight lows (voice one), or an ideal-but-elusive vintage PAF tone with just the right dynamics and output (voice two). A two-way mini toggle allows you to switch between these two voicings, while a tone control with push/pull activation bypasses the mini toggle to activate voice three, which outputs clear, vintage single-coil tone on the neck pickup or slightly overwound single-coil tone on the bridge. Throw in the three-way blade pickup switch and volume control knob and tonal possibilities are virtually endless.

This model also features Charvel-branded sealed die-cast locking tuners, standard strap buttons and a Gotoh® Custom 510 tremolo bridge for smooth action, improved vibration transfer and enhanced sustain.

A sophisticated new offering ready to spawn waves of sonic bliss, the Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 2 24 HH 2PT CM Ash is finished in either Black Ash with black pickguard and black hardware or Natural Ash with black pickguard and chrome hardware. Both of these raw beauties are capped off with a reverse licensed Fender® Telecaster® headstock.

I had been looking for a 6 string classic body shape for a while... until I found this Charvel Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 2 "super tele". What first caught my eye was the 24 frets, which I prefer to 21 or 22 like a classic fender has. When I started looking at the spec sheet... I found that this thing came with pretty much every option from a stock guitar I wanted! A Gotoh 510 custom trem, locking tuners, heel adjusted truss rod, coil split, Graphtech TUSQ nut, heel carve at the neck joint, duel direct mount humbuckers (so finally, NO PICKUP RINGS... even though it has a pickgaurd). I was beyond happy with the price for the specs. The one thing that I would say is that the Fishman Fluence open core active pickups... are not great for super high gain or metal at all really. They feel like an active EMG almost; kind squishy and not a lot of mids that make a great modern metal tone. I do really like the split coil sounds in the 2 and 3 positions, either voice one or voice two. Those are awesome for country and any strat sounds. I will probably replace them with EMG passive H4 and H4A. I'm not really a fan of active pickups in the first place, but for low gain and split coil sounds... these do a great job, especially in E standard or down to D standard, maybe drop C. I will add that so far the only thing I've added are the Schaller strap locks that I put on all my guitars.

Fishman Fluence pickups. Active. Know that from the get-go. No passive option. Not much of a genuine "tele" sound. Expected. After all, there are two splittable humbuckers... Once you set it up well and to your tastes, the tremelo is stable. unless you want unstable tremelo. You can probably get that too. The neck is butter. Dip your fingers in that luke-warm butter. I set my action a bit high. I play rhythm guitar. The body contours feel so very nice. I traded a player series Fender Tele in for this Charvel. The Fender hurt my fragile body. The tones are exemplary. If I didn't have an amazing live-show setup with two Fender Lead IIs, this would absolutely be my ride or die. I've had a couple mishaps with this one so that I generally stick to those The first is that because my technique is poor, I wind up snagging my high e string on the neck pickup. Their height is not easily adjusted, so without tape, it's a potential situation. The second is again, on me: when I break a string with a floating tremelo, the live guitar is a done deal (as many of you have no doubt experienced.) When taped, and without strings breaking, this is by far my favorite guitar I've ever bought (I'm 42.) But because I play a bit rowdy, I keep the Fender Lead IIs on hand.

Love this guitar. It sounds great! The only down side is the reversed headstock and the dumb input plug.I find both annoying but it sounds so good I can over look that.Tele vibe and Les Paul all in one.I'm getting used to the lefty tuners. The pickups are what they say..Very unique sounds. In one week I play many different styles of music backing up different singers.I take this one one all the time now,Great price..Git one...

I was really excited when charvel listened to it's customers online, and offered a reasonably priced super tele, like a Suhr modern T. Well they nailed it, right down to the quality. I honestly was not expecting Fishman fluence open core pickups, or direct mount pickups, but charvel got that done too. Human centered design through social media was effectively used to bring this instrument to life. Pretty much my dream guitar, at a production line price. Neck isn't super flat like an Ibanez prestige, but it's comfy and modern. Overall, I love not having a Floyd Rose, the string changes are super easy on the gotoh 510. Trem stays in tune with the locking tuners. Body is slightly chambered, so guitar is super light, but still rich in tone. Many attempts at super tele over the years, from the USA production San dimas style 2, American ultra telecaster, Yamaha Pacifica 1221, and numerous Ibanez models. Only issue I had was the frets weren't super smooth, and fender covered that labour under warranty. Highly recommend, I feel the ensenada Mexico builds are on par with any fender Japan or USA guitars🙌 Looking forward to future variations of the so cal style 2.

It's a stunning guitar to look at. Awesome neck profile. Goes down from there. The frets suck. Period. That's based on my Fender American Strat bias, but I have a Riki too. Fret edges were not rolled, let alone filed. And especially at the top end of the neck, the high. square profile is not desirable. Then there's the headstock. I simply cant get used to the reverse headstock. Forget quick tuning adjustments. Always have to stop and count out the tuners. The Fluence active pickups are just OK

Almost 5 stars across the board, There were a few fret dings on the 13th fret under the B string (which I was able to fix with my fret erasers and crowning file). Aside from that it is great. Not too heavy, pretty well balanced, fantastic neck and fret job (dings aside), and great sound. I'm especially impressed with the single coil sounds. Lots of coil split or coil tap designs just sound wimpy and the volume level is crazy low compared to HB mode. These active PU are awesome! And it is very pretty! I would have preferred staggered tuners and no string trees (however, I'm not using the string trees on mine and have no issues with sound or sustain). And with the funky placement of the output jack, you have to be careful putting the guitar most styles of stands, But all in all, highly recommended.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
