...this amp is abosloutely gorgeous in every way. Tjis is my second one now, I used to own the original YCV 40 almoat 20 years ago and this is everything it was and just a little more. It its clean tone is smooth and shiny, "Glassy" seems to be the word here and its perfect. Overdrive side sounds great from a cleaned-up blues tone, or dime it to approach dark early metal tones reminding me of Sabbath/Ozzy and Zeppelin. Love having the true spring reverb nice and simple on the single dial. And now a Master Level too that allows me to decide whether to send decorations off the neighbors wall. Nice. I just want to know... ....when is the matching cab being released?!?!?!

I reviewed this amp prior and now that it has seen it's first gig I wanted to update. I did say "Gain Boost switch adds too much gain! If you play with normal gain near 8 or 9 and kick in the boost realistically the gain could go down to like 4 and still be an effective gain jump." I have discovered that the gain boost utilizes the b side of second preamp tube (V2b). So I replaced that tube with an ECC823 which has 100% gain on side a and only around 20% for side b. This lowered the gain most effectively on the boost. The regular gain control stays the same and only the boost is reduced. It is perfect!! This amp has a nice low end thunk from the Creamback 65 and sounds very Marshall like. It performed very well! I recommend it highly!

I purchased this for myself a few months ago and have been enjoying it ever since. I needed something that really let a clean guitar tone shine through and I stumbled upon what I believe to be the holy grail of clean tone amplifiers.
The clean channel is just perfect for letting the tone of a quality made guitar shine through. From my favorite twangy strat to my Prestige semi-hollow with flats every nuanced detail in tone is on display. Clean, punchy, glassy, yet warm and full bodied this amp to me brings all the strengths of competing amps into one package tone wise.
The drive channel is also superb. Use it with layers of drive pedals or dial it in bare bones for anything from almost clean to insane levels of dirt and that's before you even engage the absolutely balls to the wall boost.
There is a plethora of tone crafting options for each channel like brightness for the clean and a vintage/modern selector for the drive channel, not to mention separate 3 band EQs and volume controls for each channel with an excellent Reverb and Master volume to bring it all home.
If I had to pick out anything I didn't like it would be the weight and the lack of XLR out for DI purposes but neither of those things are deal breakers and you get the consolation prize of rugged durability as trade off for the weight.
This is a quality Canadian piece of art.

I was looking for a more vintage-sounding tube combo, able to play in a band setting, and being able to cut through the mix adequately. I play classic rock, blues and 90's rock, and this does a fantastic job for all of them. If you play metal, this isn't you're amp, though. Tone is too beefy and warm. You could probably get a decent scooped distortion with the right pedal through the clean, but honestly, that's not what this amp is for. Its tones are way more organic.
This amp starts to really sing if you're able to turn the volume up to around 11 o'clock on the overdrive channel. The tubes comes alive and are all creamy, vintage, thick sounding. It sports a vintage/modern switch, allowing you to shift between those warm 70s sounds, and more modern/80s and 90s crunch with a bit more bite. Crank it higher, and you'll be rewarded with full-bodied sonic bliss in both cases.
The clean is absolutely sparkling, and accepts pedals well.
I'm running a PRS S2 McCarty, and Fender Tele MIM through it. This amp brings out the best in both. The Celestion Creamback is warm, with plenty of bottom end, but equally crisp higher frequencies.
Great spring reverb, with plenty of range.
Separate eq and volume for each channel, plus master volume. Lots of control so you can dial in your exact sound.
Probably not the best choice for bedroom amp, as it really does need to be turned up to shine. But once you get past 10 o'clock on the overdrive, you're flying. At 1-2 o'clock, you're going to be loud enough to cut through any band situation mix, as thing beast gets loud.
Super durable construction and materials, made in Canada (LOVE IT). This amp will last you a lifetime.

High quality sound in both clean and distortion channels. Running the Boss GT1000 through the effects loop and as part of a stereo rig, The Traynor YCV4050 makes it shine. I would highly recommend this well built amp to anyone. Excellent service from the staff at L&M in Prince George BC

Love the color, it is more a dark emerald green/olive kinda color not the horrid one pictured. Clean channel is clean and the separate volume makes setting it a breeze. The OD channel can get very distorted, my only complaint, as it is, is that the Gain Boost switch adds too much gain! If you play with normal gain near 8 or 9 and kick in the boost realistically the gain could go down to like 4 and still be an effective gain jump. I like the Modern setting as well. The overall tone is fairly dark, the Creamback gives it a good low end thump. Could almost use a Presence control. I wish the boost was also a volume solo boost, I normally use OD channel and for live use, I put an EQ in the loop. Would be nice to have that built in. Overall a really nice amp.

Just financed this today and boy I was surprised how amazing this amp is. My Boss ME70 sounded much better compare to plugging it on my solid state amp. This so far the best musical instrument I purchased only after my EBMM Luke 2 guitar.

Nice to support a Canadian company, this amp is really great, it totally rips. Distortion channel is super fun, boost is great on footswitch, vintage and regular button adds a nice touch in the distortion mode. Reverb tank is great, awesome value better than the Fender Hot Rod and such.

Also purchased this amp during Rocktober. Great clean channel and an even better overdrive channel. Traynor legendary built like a tank quality. Thinking this will be my last 40 watt tube at a realistic price for a pro quality amp. Go Canadian!

Picked this up yesterday. All i can say is this is a great amp. I have been playing Marshall amps my entire life and currently own the JVC 100 watt top. The Traynor is every bit as good sounding with an awsome boost that the Marshall does not have. This l 11 of 11 customers found this review helpful

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.

Great Additions
