With its smaller size and portability, the all-new EVH® 5150III® 50S 6L6 Head is the perfect amp for players who want Ed Van Halen's touring tone, arena volume and performance in a compact package. Three channels of road-tested sound work for any playing style - crisp cleans, chunky overdrive, tight distortion and searing leads, while newly added independent dual-concentric controls allow for gain and volume level matching.

Tweaked to meet Eddie's touring requirements, this 50-watt head delivers a full-spectrum of tone. Channel one powers crystal-clear clean tone; channel two features increased gain for greater sustain and is re-voiced for improved low-mid frequency definition; channel three also has improved range for the "low" control and oozes with increased liquid gain. Channels one and two each have dual concentric gain/volume controls, with shared EQ (low, mid, high). Channel three has its own gain, volume and EQ (low, mid, high) controls. All three channels also have global presence and global resonance controls.

The amp is also loaded with seven JJ ECC83 preamp tubes, a pair of Shuguang 6L6 power tubes, switchable output impedance (4, 8 and 16 ohms) and an adjustable bias control.

Seductively dark in black textured vinyl with a dual black EVH striped steel grille front panel, this 50-watt stealth head also comes with vintage-style "chicken head" black control knobs, red lamp jewel, dual speaker output jacks, four-button footswitch, effects loop, direct out and molded plastic handle.

This thing kicks ass. Punchy, lots of low end, lots of tight gain, surprisingly versatile. Sounds huge. No complaints there. I realize this is a bit antithetical to the 5150III ethos but I would prefer a version with two channels so they didn't have to share controls. The gain and volume controls are kinda finicky and feel a little cheap. They sometimes move when the amp is vibrating and the volume knob is easy to bump when switching channels on the front panel. At least it comes with a foot switch. Maybe I should just get the 100w version.

This amp is just incredible. The gain and tone is just unreal. I usually boost the front of my amps with an overdrive pedal but this one absolutely doesn't need a boost whatsoever. I have a Marshall DSL 100 that will be collecting dust now that I Have the EVH Stealth. If you can get your hands on one... get it.

The last amplifier the iconic VH will conceive. Had to get one!! Absolutely monster gain sounds and a workable clean channel from crystal clean to a nice crunch on the green channel . Blue channel and red channel hits all high gain goodness (I run a boost pedal in front clean up that low end) Rest In Peace Eddie the father of modern high gain!!! Totally Happy

From sparkling chimey fender cleans to the most brutal of metalcore chug riffs, this thing does it all. I've yet to throw a combination of guitars/pedals at it that didn't sound just amazing. It's my desert island amp for sure.

I was very fortunate to get one of these in early May. None of the US retailers even had them yet but Long-McQuade was able to get a couple of them before anyone else. A few years back my local L&M tried to get me the full size head but there was an error in purchasing from the Fender Rep and thus, we did not get any in Canada in that first run. A few years later, these beauties were announced at Winter Namm 2020. This was exactly what I was looking for! It has all of the boxes ticked for me - smaller headshell and lighter weight for gigging, 50Watts is more than enough, 6L6 power for a smoother but more bottom-heavy tone, 3 fantastic channels, solid Fx loop, resonance control, adjustable bias setting on the back and Midi! I mean, for this price, you can't ask for much more. Upon turning on this amp and listening to it, it sounds incredible. I've had one of early EVH Vietnam built 50 watt versions (which was a disaster for reliability), an EVH 212 combo (which weighed as much as a small car!), and the larger EVH 100W EL-34 head which was awesome but huge to carry around. Each one of those amps had a certain "honk" in the mid-range which I found not as desirable. This one I can fully say does not. This amp sound amazing through each channel. The filtering is just different on the amp. The concentric volume knobs are a great update for this amp series to help balance the channels when playing live. I run this through a modified Mesa 212 recto cab with V30s and it punches like no other! Huge thanks as always to Dan McNab @ L&M Brampton for always helping me out. Best in the Biz!

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
