Question: I have kinda large hands but also am a heavier set guy. How is this guitar for people with a bit of a gut and big hands? Also, where does the patch cord plug into?
- asked on May 1, 2024
Answer: This guitar has pretty standard layout on the fretboard. Would fit most sizes of hands. Would fit larger belly like any standard guitar. The output jack is on the bottom side about 6 inches from the strap button.

It’s a nice guitar, slim neck , great sound plugged in, decent EQ, nice low action, cons: the gig bag is crap, but the do give you the truss rod tool. 😏

I found the fretboard very narrow and makes some things harder to play than they would normally be to play. It's not terrible, but if you have big hands it can be a little small. That's really my only complaint. Otherwise it's a really good guitar. Sounds good, good construction, it's a lot of bang for your buck.

I recently bought a more expensive acoustic/electric guitar. I didn't like it & took it back to the store. Seen the Denver hanging on the wall & give it a shot, was impressed sounded nice and played nice. Went home with it. Good guitar for the price well worth it. Never heard of that brand before but recommend it

I was looking for a budget full size accoustic/electric and found this at the Port Coquitlam store. I immediatly had their luthier do the complimentary set-up and I changed the strings from 12's to 10's [easier on my aging fingers] and I am very pleased with the results, Plugged into my accoustic amp with a mic and it sounds great. Unplugged gives a very rounded response to finger play or with a pic that you should expect from this size of body.

I am beginner/intermediate player and I find i struggle to make it sound well with just strumming chords ... a very good player has played it and it sounds good ...I just don't think its for me ...I've done some research and I'm gunna get the APX600 and try that

I was initially a little worried with how little this guitar costs but as I was unable to visit the stores due to covid I listened to the positive reviews that this guitar got. Over all really impressed with how this guitar feels and sounds. You definitely can't go wrong for the price!

I picked this guitar up as a fill in for a gig where my main guitar was out for repair. I was pleasantly surprised to its playability and sound. A very well built guitar with an underpriced tag for sure. I am buying a second one .

I bought it for my friend just to show him how to play. It was making a good sound. I brought it home and now I play it more than my Larrevee for 2500. The only thing I needed to do was filing frets on the sides of the neck so they don't scratch my hand and strings don't get stuck under. Other than that - I love it. I keep it and I bought the same one for my friend. I will give this one to my son.

I have played guitar for over a year now, and started playing in a band with other people and instruments (including a grand concert piano). Playing my old, straight-flat acoustic by itself sounded like a mouse, and being miked was just a pain. So after saving Christmas and Birthday money (cause I don't have a job-I'm still a young teen) I ventured out in to the guitar market. I was looking for an acoustic-electric guitar, that was under $300, which was hard to find. I walked into Long and Mcquade for the first time ever, and explained what I was looking for. The guy immediately showed me this one, and plugged it in so I could try it out. I feel in love right away. The action is PERFECT and it's very easy to play. The sound is very rich and deep, and very full. Tuning is simple, and it stays in tune very well. The cutaway is pretty convenient as well. So, if you need a great guitar on a budget, look no farther. It probably best suits intermediate players, but could work well for beginners or even advanced players. Honestly, just go for it! And don't take my word for it, try one at your local music store, and thank me later.

This guitar is an excellent first guitar. It has good sound when played acoustically & has a decent range of tone when amped up. Max the bass, raise the mid & tone a bit & you have a rich full sound. Lower the mid all the way, the bass half way, max out the treble & give a bit of tone & you have a chimey summer sound. The guitar plays nicely. One thing I like is that you can tune from standard to drop b with the same strings. That's really useful. Good intonation, decent build quality. The only issue I've run into it the input jack. It's extremely fragile. If you bump it even a bit while the cord is plugged in, then it will undo off the thread & fall off. The. You have to take off all the strings, screw it back on & restring it. So watch out for that. Overall, this is an amazing deal. Every beginner should have it.

Doesn't sound like a bucket like my last guitar. I've been playing for 10+ years and I was looking for something affordable. Great overall quality throughout, and best guitar for the price. I really enjoy this guitar!

I was recently in the music store shopping for a viloin for my daughter. While waiting for the salesman, who happens to be the owner, to finish with another customer I started fiddling with the guitars. I had no intention to purchase a guitar that day. After fiddling with the Martin's and Taks I saw one called Denver. Never heard of it before. I chuckled a bit and asked myself what is this piece of crap. Until I picked it up, and I mean from the moment I picked it up I could tell it wasn't a piece of crap. Then I started playing it and was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed the tone, the construction was solid and then looked at the price and decided I had to take it home so I did and am glad I found it. Nice guitar great price. Thanks Denver.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
