Wow, this thing is crazy fast. I have upgraded from a Presonus Firestudio Project, using FireWire. I had been a FW holdout for many years because USB can't hit the low latency I need. I was initially disappointed that it didn't seem to have a zero-latency monitoring mode, but I understand now that such a mode is a relic of the past, because this thing can provide you what might as well be zero-latency monitoring via software. I just wish that Universal Control allowed you to monitor inputs without the need to open your DAW. Sometimes you just want to hear yourself in your headphones when gaming, and you don't want to have Ableton running too. The solution I have found is to use a program called VoiceMeeter Banana (yeah, I know, dumb name) to monitor inputs when you're just using your computer normally, but otherwise using your DAW is fine. Happy with my purchase, though there was a bit of an adjustment period. Oh and don't cheap out on a Thunderbolt cable. They are fairly pricey and totally different than a normal USB-C cable. Presonus recommends either Apple ones, or StarTech.

Solid, smooth, easy and reliable. Forget using onboard dsp. This thing is fast enough to use your DAW or standalone vst with less than 1ms latency. This is the real deal and a bargain as well.

I'm running a ryzen 5 32GB Win10 PC. This interface works, I can get roundtrip latencies at 1-2ms with some software running it as an effects pedal. Depending on the sample buffer size and the DAW software, the # of instances of VST's and tracks etc it can be more, but it's always useful. The preamps are clean. You can insert on channel 1 and 2 with no preamps if you want which is nice because I use an SSL SiX. Lots of I/O for the money. Windows 10 is a little glitchy and will kick the interface out with embedded videos such as youtube. This is a known problem, and if it is annoying you can quickly switch to another interface and back to bring the sound back on your system tray, inconvenient yet not a dealbreaker because at this level you are buying the I/F for watching youtube. I imagine this is a beast on mac and will hang on to it for when I get one. No real bells and whistles on the Device control software (Universal Control) - level indicators, fft spectrum analyzer, no software level manipulation though, that has to be done through the DAW or VST software running on it.

The Quantum 2626 has got to be the fastest audio interface on the planet! Round Trip Latency at 96kHz with a 64 sample buffer was an astonishing 1.6 milliseconds! It just blows the competition out of the water as far as low latency performance goes! So far It's been a very solid, stable and reliable piece of gear! The preamps are very clean, quiet and remarkably detailed in their recreation of the sources being recorded. At the asking price I don't know why anyone would buy any other interface. This makes anything on a USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 connection obsolete. I'm really very impressed!

I'm running the Presonus Quantum 2626 on a Windows 10 PC based on a Gigabyte Z390 Motherboard with a thunderbolt 3 connection, with 64 Gigabytes of DDR4 Ram, and an Intel i9-9900k CPU. All my software is installed on a Samsung EVO860 SATA SSD. I'm recording into REAPER v6.15 at 24 bit 96kHz. In a project with a 128 sample buffer running 26 tracks with 12 virtual instruments and 48 plugins Reaper is Reporting: 128spls~1.4/1.5ms ASIO latency. No clicks, no pops, no dropouts. That is simply astonishing! That means you can track with all these virtual instruments and plugins activated and It just flippin works! A loop back test revealed a dead on sample accurate ASIO driver performance with no manual latency adjustments needed. Presonus have coded a very accurate ASIO driver for this piece of hardware. The XMAX preamps are clean and quiet with a nice rounded warmth to them. Blowing a C-harp into an Shure SM-58 with a bit of Reverb on it sounded huge! It comes with a nice software package featuring Studio One 4 Artist, Ableton Live lite, 6 virtual instruments and 9 different plugins. The download links for the Studio Magic Software package on the Presonus Site don't appear to be working, or at least they weren't working for me so that's points off the scoreboard. But you can go to the plugin manufactures sites and download and register them from there. All together the Presonus Quantum 2626 is an incredibly good piece of hardware at a very fair price. It's solid, stable, easy to operate and like I said It just flipping works! I'm really happy with it!

I bought the PreSonus Quantum 2626 in January 2020 and received it in April 2020. I bought it because it is thunderbolt 3 and was reasonably priced. It is in very high demand and was back ordered. It does a great job for me in my home studio. Recently, it stopped working. They are on back order so it can't be replaced with the same unit. I'll probably have to buy another make while the quantum 2626 is being repaired.

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.
 

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
