Why I love this guitar: Versatile pickups that can do anything from jazz to punk. Sleek satin finish, keeping your hands from sticking to the neck on a humid day. It also keeps the guitar scratch free. Nice large neck with comfortable contouring, takes a lot of strain off of your palms and wrists. Good for anyone suffering with carpal tunnel! VERY unique and artful design ie: the tortishell pickguard/body plate with matching tort headstock plate. Cream colour is beautiful. And is not too saturated, so you can see some wood grain. Speaking of wood grain, the grain on the neck and fretboard is really unique and pleasing to the eyes. Fixed intonation doesn’t seem to affect actual intonation. Hardware is high quality and durable. The guitar isn’t too light. Or too heavy. It’s perfectly balanced, no neck dive. Though that is just my personal experience. Easy to do bends, chords, taps. And everything is mounted to the tortishell guard plate. So if you’re needing to do any repairs or swap pickups, just take that plate off. And trace and repair everything without any guesswork. I’ve likely missed something. But there’s a lot of reasons to like this guitar. I hope Godin makes them for a good long while. Last point! Most importantly, this guitar is made in Canada. With high quality Canadian wood. Could not recommend more. For all levels of players.

I had this guitar for about 2 months now and have played about 3 gigs with it. I had the first version of this model in the early 2000's and I can say that this version is a lot better. Here's my review:
PROS:
- Sounds good either with a tube or SS amp. I play it onstage through a Fender Blues Jr IV and Boss Katana 100W MK1. Yes, you can gig with it.
- I totally love the neck of this guitar. Changed the strings immediately upon purchase to the gauge I'm comfortable with, adjusted the truss rod a bit and bang! Solid playability!
- It's beautiful and the hardware is quality, you wouldn't guess that it costs less than CAD1,000
CONS:
- Upper fret notes are harder to play compared to my other guitars. The heel of the neck somehow limits the reach of your fingers after the 15th fret
- Not a big fan of the front plug in
You need an angled guitar cable so its not sticking out in front of you which can be annoying. Other than that, this is one solid guitar. It has a vintage sound plugged direct into the amp. It becomes more alive once you start using your pedals.

I have owned several models and styles of Godin guitars over the years, always impressed. A wonderful Canadian family success story. I bought a Godin Radium when they first came out but the complex push pull knobs and multiple switching was a little overwhelming for me so I gave it to my son-in-law and grandson to have, when I saw the Radiator available at the N Van L&M last year I went for it. I like the shorter scale and the neck is amazingly fast and takes a low action. The special sounds of the humbuckers mix and match to any genre you may like to play. Beautiful to look at and sits in my lap nicely. I see several of these now available... go check them out.

I have owned the original version of this guitar which came out in the late 90s. Loved it! wasn't able to bring it with me when I moved to Canada though.
Got one several days ago. Changed the strings from 10s to 9s, lowered the action and then bam! Great guitar for the price! Sounds great either through a Katana 100W or a blues junior!
The neck on this guitar is perfect! No buzz or anything even if the action is just a shade over 1mm at the 12th fret. Similar to the older version, I love you can control each pick up individually like the LPs. Buy now before the price gets hgher!

Ordered this guitar based on the reviews as well as prior experience with Godin products [xtSa + SD + A6]. The set up was excellent right out of the box. The weight was heavier [good] than I thought it would be for a fully chambered body. The fretboard/fret work was top class with smooth fret ends. The dual humbuckers were easily adjusted, but did not have a lot of bite - which suited my style - but others may want hotter pups. 4 stars for "Features" - adding a couple of coil splits, or even one - would have been the icing on the cake. The pups can give an almost Tele twang through to a smooth Stratty neck pup with some careful knob twiddling. Wide open, it can growl, but it is more subdued than, for example, an LP. Overall, greatguitar!

I've bought and sold many, many guitars over the years and I recently discovered Godin. I can barely believe the quality all around. This Radiator adds to the Session I already have and they both play beautifully, sound excellent and record perfectly. And this particular guitar, i should add, looks really great too. A guitar of this quality under $1000? That's just crazy. But it's true. I highly recommend it.

I have a step learning curve so I have progressed quicker over time than many others would have and purchasing this guitar has helped. The only true down side to it is it is a bit weak, lacks punch, even with all the dials maxed out. With software and other add-ons I am sure it can sound just as one wishes. I like to play clean, I would rather make the sound from the strings naturally (with without a pick). It came ready to play out of the soft case. It is light (I find it to be too light, but I am strong). It is well built and very playable. I am contemplating getting better pickups in the future, but other than that it has been great. I have an Epiphone (Les Paul, solid body) in the same price range. The Godin is probably better on all directly comparable aspects EXCEPT the pickups.

I've played Godin acoustic guitars in the past, but this is the first electric I've actually owned and played. First impressions are that this is a well made, quality instrument, finish is flawless, fit is flawless, no issues anywhere. Plays effortlessly, and it sounds absolutely fantastic through a Fender Deluxe Reverb or a Vox AC15. Or you can go full-on Canadian and run it through your Traynor YGL3 which of course all Canadians should also own. Intonation is surprisingly bang on, despite the wraparound tailpiece, which is of course great for string bending. (no string past the saddle so no sliding over the saddle when you bend) For anyone that is skeptical of the wraparound solid tailpiece/bridge layout, you have to try this, it really is a different feel. This is a no-nonsense and high quality instrument, and it really deserves some serious attention. It won't stay a sleeper forever...

Ordered this sight unseen. Was looking for LP style without LP $. Excellent setup out of the box. Tuning is solid, once strings settled in I haven’t touched the tuners in about 5 hrs playing time. Tuners feel better than my player series Fender. Excellent sustain. Very comfortable neck with smooth finish. Fit and finish is excellent. I’d describe weight as medium, solid but not too heavy. Guitar has fixed compensated saddles, but the intonation is great so far. Very happy with this, especially considering the &.

Great fit and finish. Action was good out of he box, and I lowered it even further, it’s such joy to play. Sounds fantastic without breaking the bank. Retro modern look. Love the high ratio tuners. Overall I’m very happy with this guitar. Godin knows their stuff.

Just picked up one today during L&M's February blowout sale at Bloor location. Travis was very helpful assisting me with testing the two color variants of this Godin Radiator. Before coming, I was on a search for a lighter weight 24.75" scale electric. I have a Gibson LP but it's quite heavy for daily practice. So I looked at several options which include the Gibson LP Junior DC Tribute with P-90 pickups, the Hamer Special Jr., PRS SE 245 (also heavy guitar), Ibanez Artcore AM/AS 93 and 153, then one night I stumbled into this gem. I looked at the specs and viewed a few videos. I like the fact that it uses wood that is locally available, the silver leaf maple. And it's an interesting choice as well because typically, the more popular tonewoods include mahogany (dark tone), basswood, alder, and so on. But I think Godin has very good knowledge and experience with the local woods. What can I say, sounds very good to my ears. And I find from my experience with my Norman mini Jumbo that Godin does very good neck profile and the frets are dressed properly. Set up was already good at the display floor but I lowered it a bit more and I got very nice low action. About 1.5mm on the low E from 12th fret to string, and 1.0mm at high E with no fret buzz, Thanks L&M for another wonderful guitar buying experience.

This is an incredible North American made guitar for the price and quality. It beats my old Les Paul in terms of sound, looks, weight and build! Godin knocked this one out of the park for sure!

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
