The Original Desktop Amp

THR-II series amps offer more sounds, more power and more wireless features than ever before. Wireless connectivity makes THR-II amps perfect for at-home practicing,

Guitarists are familiar with the tube amp stacks that sound amazing when turned up loud on a big stage, and with combo amps that are a perfect fit for smaller venues and rehearsal. THR ignored the convention that a practice amp should simply be a smaller version of a larger amp, creating a new "third amp" category designed around what players need when playing at home.

Fully-Wireless Experience
All THR-II models feature Bluetooth connectivity for audio playback, the "THR Remote" mobile editor app, and third-party footswitch support.

THR10II Wireless and THR30II Wireless also feature a built-in rechargeable battery and Line 6 wireless receiver. Just grab your THR, your guitar and a Line 6 Relay G10T transmitter (sold separately), and play anywhere your music takes you.

THR Remote
The THR Remote editor lets THR-II players sculpt their guitar tones wirelessly, with additional parameters for sculpting your unique sound. THR-II amplifiers have simple one-knob controls for the modulation, echo, and reverb effects. With THR Remote, players can access multiple parameters per effect for fine tuning, and access a compressor and noise gate. With THR Remote, you can easily assign a compatible third-party Bluetooth footswitch (sold separately) for control that is both hands-free and cable-free. Change the EQ for music playback, adjust the line out and USB out levels, check the battery charge level, and more.

This is the best desktop amp on the planet at the moment. I've tried and demo'ed ALL of them. This thing right out of the box is perfect. Better tone than Katana Air, Catalyst, AIDO, Spider, Spark, etc... (no 'digitalness' but still has 'compressyness'). It also costs about $300+ more than all the aforementioned. IMO order one in, take advantage of the L&M 30-day satisfaction policy. Take some time to fall in love with it. But, I don't think you will end up returning it. I was hooked in 20minutes. Tone is as good as any of the Fender Tone-Masters. It is NOT a performance amp however. Levels will not cut through the mix in a rehearsal situation. If you need a real combo, then get a Fender Princeton Tonemaster (and pay another $500). THR30II is ideal for home/bedroom/small parties. Bluetooth and built-in battery (5hrs) makes it the perfect pickup and go solution. Wireless guitar comes built-in (native connection to Line 6 TH10). I got it for easy grab-and-go for lessons or home jams and parties. (Buddy has the Spark). We agree the yammie sounds nicer; on-scale with my tubed Blues Jr. with Greenback, (with only half the weight and form-factor). Can pump right into your DAW if that's your thing. It's as quieter than any of the modeller attenuated amps at 1/4W; but upper volume is similar to a televeision at 90% volume. And yes it retains fidelity and tone at all volumes. You could also line-in to a set of powered speakers or PA if you decide you need louder levels.

Fact: Yamaha has annihilated the competition with the THR30II Wireless Desktop Amp. The guitar sound this thing produces is remarkable and has far surpassed my expectations of what an amp this size is capable of producing.
If you don’t require a larger amp for concert performance, Yamaha’s latest desktop may be all you need. But even if you wanted to use it on stage, simply connect the THR30II Wireless to a house system or another amp using the 1/4 inch stereo outs on the back of the unit.
As a longtime pro guitar player I admit I’m getting tired of heavy amps and a suitcase of cords and pedals. Perhaps that’s just one of the reasons I find the 30 watt desktop THR30II Wireless so refreshing. Yamaha has produced a powerful desktop system with a realistic tube tone that sounds so good, it makes me want to play longer, and even at my age, that continues to make me a better player.
There are 8 variations.. clean, crunch, lead, hi gain, special, bass, acoustic and flat. Each with 3 variations.. modern, boutique and classic. The acoustic and flat settings are perfect for acoustics and the bass, middle and treble controls actually work, providing excellent EQ control.
Whether playing or recording at home, in a studio, or busking on the corner, the THR30II Wireless is incredible. With the built in rechargeable battery you’ll be able to play for 4-5 hours.
The craftsmanship is impressive. Built like a tank and impeccably manufactured. Even the headphone amp, where most manufacturers tend to cheap out, is one of the best I’ve heard. It’s as good as the THR30’s custom twin speakers.
The THR30II has an aux-in as well. Though with Bluetooth providing the capability of playing along with music from your smart device, you may never use the aux-in function. Of course the THR30II Wireless Desktop Amp can also be used as an everyday Bluetooth speaker.
Yamaha has been making a version of this desktop amp for well over a decade, but only now with wireless and Bluetooth (and slightly larger speakers on the THR30II), has it really come of age. I’m glad I waited too, as the stunning new black model wasn’t available until recently.
Then there’s that warm tube-like orange glow behind the amp grill. Nice! (Especially noticeable on the black model.)
The built in effects include all the pro processing Yamaha is known for, and if you connect your smart device and use the free downloadable Yamaha THR Remote app, you’ll have a dozen additional settings like multiple cabs, reverbs, delays, a noise gate and adjustable compression. All THR30II settings, including a separate Bluetooth audio channel, are controllable via the THR Remote app.
But you ask, how does it sound?
To me, the true test of any amp is how it sounds at lower to mid volume. With stage amps you need to drive the wattage to obtain the sound you may be looking for. With the THR30II, Yamaha’s engineers and sound techs obviously spent major time coming up with a way to deliver that warm tube sound at living room level. It’s one of the THR30II’s top features.
Dial in a setting and save it to one of 5 available presets. ( I saved 4 for electric and 1 for acoustic.) Plug in a Line 6 Relay G10 and play wirelessly from 50’ away. The guitar jack automatically charges the Relay G10 when plugged in. Or use any $50 set of wireless TX and RX plugs.
Of all the equipment I’ve purchased over the last 30 years, the THR30II Wireless desktop amp (Black) is one of the most amazing pieces of gear I’ve owned. It’s built like a Rolls Royce, is stunning in appearance, is 100% portable, and the quality of sound it produces defies its diminutive size. There is also a Tap Tempo feature and built in tuner.
I can’t stop playing my guitar through it, finding the sound it produces extremely addictive.
So there you have it. Now go and get one.

I got the thr10x first gen years ago, i absolutely love the metal tone, but was almost useless with my strat for playing blues or rock. So i bought the thr30II for being more versatile and keep acces to the first gen metal tone, but the result is not the same. For sure i got more tone, but first gen sound tighter to me. The buzz sound when using the batterie is a lot higher, and the reverb seems to be always on. The appli is also very bad ( can connect to my tablet). Bit disapointing for me. First gen was way better and easier to use

What a great amp!!! I purchased this amp after being very disappointed with my Boss Katana Air. The Boss' wireless made all sorts of popping noises...the dials when turned often left me with a muddy messy sound, and it sounded cheap. The Yamaha's sound is everything you could want in a practice amp. It has just about every amp sound you could want...clean, to blues to rock to metal, old and new. This thing really does do it all, and best of all, it does not ound like a small amp at all!! The 30W version is plenty loud, although I have never tried to play over a set of drums. I use it in the living room, around the camp-fire, and on the deck all the time. Buying the wireless G10T is a must for ultimate portability. I leave it plugged in charging, and when I want to take it with me, I just grab it and go. The built-in battery lasts forever...my sessions are usually 2-3 hours, and I have never run out of juice in that time. In fact, the wireless transmitter will give out on you before the amp (which is probably the only negative) The android/iphone app is great for getting the perfect sound/setup. 5 easily accessible presets are just enough. The addition of a wireless bluetooth pedal is perfect for switching sounds on the fly. The bluetooth audio is absolutely great, and I use it all the time for playing with backing tracks. The only negatives I can think of are that I wish there were more options for flanger, and phaser, as I find I can never quite find a setting I like on those. Every other sound, and effect is top notch though. The only other thing missing on this unit is a looper, and it would be great if it came with a bluetooth pedal/switch, and didn't need the app to make that work. I hope when Yamaha creates the THRIII it will have those features. Anyways...it is pricey, but well worth it if you want a GREAT practice amp. (and a no brainer if you are thinking of the boss katana air...get this instead)

This thing is amazing. Sounds as good as a tube amp. I don't feel the need to make ears bleed with my Marshall stack anymore. I love the wireless feature. I can just sit down with my guitar, no patch chord and start playing. I don't even have to get up to change settings on the amp because I can do it from my phone. Best practice amp I've every tried.

I have had this amp for two months now and I have to say this amp is the best home practice and play along modelling amp I have ever owned. I’ve owned a Line6 amplifi 75, Vox Av30, Fender Super Champ 11, Spider amp etc.Presently I use a Headrush Pedal and Line6 Supercab for gigs with a Gibson Les Standard, a Gibson 335 and Fender Strat. This little Yamaha Thr 33ii has been awesome in recreating the Fender clean sound, Marshall stack, Vox 30 and some in between sounds. The stereo wide effect makes playing along with tracks that are Bluetoothed to the amp, a realistic and very pleasing experience. Good headphones offer the same exact tone as the built in speakers, should you want to jam or practice quietly. Though not a tube amp, Yamaha has done agreed job in getting near it without the fizz of some non tube amps. All knobs and switches offers an user friendly way to fine tune the sound to your exact standards. All in all, I highly recommend this amp if you are looking for a home practice or small venue gigging amp. It might, easy to carry, comes with built battery for outside gigs. I also have ordered a Line 6 G10 wireless relay ($129) as the THR comes with the receiver built in. It’s a bit expensive but well worth the price!

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
