The Mini Rectifier Twenty Five rides atop a 20-year legacy of world-class high gain performance and hit-making sounds that have been at the core of and even a catalyst for some of the very best of Modern Rock. You will quickly find that its Mini moniker and physical size bear no resemblance to its stature, power and command over blistering, tight overdrive in the realm of big gain Tone.
Don't think for a moment this is a trendy down-line toy or marketing-derived imitation of our mighty Recto. This is the real deal in every way a high-end instrument. Lurking within this expensive metal chassis, lies one of our most expressive and nuance-enhancing circuits to date and it creates an exciting, adrenaline-producing Tone machine one of the most fun to play in the entire MESA collection.
Whether you're rockin' hard or putting the immense versatility of the Mini's four Modes to bear on a variety of styles, you'll get years of inspiration and enjoyment from this little gas-in-glass-powered jewel. We always strive to build classics, icons that you'll treasure amongst your most valuable musical instruments. From the feedback we've received thus far it seems the Mini Recto is on its way toward achieving that status.

I've had my mini rec since June 2023 so I guess you could say the honeymoon is over. Except, it's not. I've never been this satisfied with an amp and I've tried and owned many over the past 20+ years playing guitar. It has a wide range of tones, I prefer the modern setting for high gain OSDM/thrash (Deicide to Exodus.) However, the clean channel and vintage mode also cover a ton of ground tonally. This amp is VERY sensitive to adjustments which is both cool and annoying. Make sure to write down your favorites as little changes make a big difference in tone. I do wish it had a built in attenuator, as it is ridiculously loud for 25W. It is an evil little beast that just roars with power. It looks like the Harley Davidson of amplifiers. And it is built to last a lifetime with some common sense.

Being more familiar with Marshall tone for most things rock and metal and having the pleasure(!?) of playing a Triple Rec over twenty years ago at full power with a 4x12 with metal plating on the sides you just know you were playing the Harley Davidson of amps.
I grabbed this little monster, with the matching 1x12 thats meant to go with it, just because I wanted an EVH Stealth Lunchbox that just never was in stock. I wanted a high gain amp in a small package with more gain than a Marshall.
In my experience with amps I am surprised as you went smaller in any line of amps how not just power goes down but so does the features. Not so much the Mini Rec.
On the positive I am amazed how easy it is to get good tone from any of the four channels. The knobs are all very responsive. The gain in the Vintage/ Modern channel hardly needs an overdrive as there is so much saturation. The Clean channel is great, not exactly a Roland Jazz Chorus but throw a chorus pedal on it and its pretty close. The Vintage channel is very much like Marshall/Soldano/Orange gain depending how the EQ is set. The Modern channel is all Boogie gain. Scoop out the mids and you have the classic tone. No overdrive required.
Now the negatives. I play it in my bedroom just as well as jamming out. If the gain is set high the amp gets pretty hot. It is quite loud even on the 10W settings. Its also hard to see the settings on the knobs being round and chrome without a pointer thing. Chickenhead knobs would have helped. The Pushed channel I guess is trying to be like Vox but doesn't quite do it. Try to sound like Fender? Forget it. Just doesn't have that spank to it. You can play a Strat at least you know its sorta Fender. You can't access all four channels like you can on the bigger heads, just two at a time. This has EL84 tubes so the tone is not as dark as 6L6s or midrangy like EL34. At least its cheap to change tubes as a bunch of 6L6/EL34 tubes is expensive.
What scares me is I have many small amps. Fender Blues Junior, Vox AC 10, Vox Pathfinder 15R, Orange Crush20,Marshall DSL20, Roland JC40 And JC20. Its a bit of an uphill battle with a few of them, but if I can get the Mini Rec to sound as good as most of my amps, I will sell them all.

I have owned this amp for two years now. I own several amps, an H&K and a Fender Hot Rod Deville and by far this is my favourite go to amp. It is lightweight and can really crank. It shines really well for clean and bluesy tones. It is so versatile. I can seriously recommend this lunch box amp. There is a ton of power and tone in a small package.

Some pros and some cons having owned this for about 4 years. . Pros - Tiny and lightweight - Settings are easy to dial in. - Sounds incredible. - Carry bag is high quality. - Light inside is changeable. - as is the grill on the front. (You can buy different grills) Cons - can't be rack mounted without extensive modification. - Dials are really hard to see in the dark. - if the clean and drive channel's are on different wattage then it creates a 'pop' sound when switching. I also bought the 2x12 cab but I wish I had gone smaller. The cab is so heavy and the handle is rubbish. But it does push out a high quality sound.

Cleans are good, just put a reverb in front or something. The shear amount of gain this thing has is awesome and you can go anywhere in between with break ups. The price has gone up for her a couple hundred.

Mesa Boogie Mini Dual Rectifier: no, it isn't. It only has one rectifier, a solid state one at that. It does not contain a tube rectifier. Dual Rec's have a switch to select tube or solid state, this one doesn't. Yes, it has the pre-amp sound of a dual rec but not the dual rec features. FYI.

I've had this amp for about a year and I haven't found a bad setting yet, it is that good. I've been playing for 25 years now and I love the rectifier tone. Great job Mesa!

Played with this amp for a year now, rockabilly/blues and heavier stuff. This is a great modern amp with not much to offer in the vintage tone arena. Clean channel sounds bauts with a single coil. 2nd channel is way too high gain for me, and doesn't cut through the mix. Controls are lovely, simple, thought out well. I fell in love with the clean channel and some boutique overdrives to make my tone happen; unfortunately in the bigger club settings, the amp gets lost. It IS LOUD, but not loud enough for larger clubs unless the soundman is really on the ball and you don't listen to your own amp; just the monitors. Love it but I have to upgrade to something with a little more balls.

I played with it in the store, but when I brought it home it is a killer little setup. I researched and looked at a lot of different little lunchbox style amps, but this blows them out of the water. Paired with a 10-Band EQ pedal it sounds as perfect as you need to jam, play alone or record.

It is amazing given the size and weight! I wanted something smaller so as not to carry around large combos. This amp rocks! My only peeves are that the modes should be accessible via footswitch. The clean channel is quite good, lotsa headroom on the 25W setting, nice breakup on 10W. I wish the PUSH (or crunch) Setting on channel one had just a bit more gain for my tastes, if you run the master up at 10W it compensates for it for the most part. Gain aside, this channel has some punch. It kicks pretty well even at 10W and has a great classic rock sound. Channel 2 is very high gain, the vintage setting lacks a bit of the punch found above but the modern setting has ridiculous gain and really smokes!!! Depending on your style, it should do the trick. Blues, classic rock tones, melting high gain, I think it does it all quite well. I wish I could boost from channel 2 vintage setting to modern for leads but will use an EQ in the loop. I am using the Boogie Mini Recto slant cab with the V30 and it is so exceptional to get this kind of tone from such a non-backbreaking setup. Put more footswitchable features on it!

I play mostly metal and this amp is incredible...and very loud...on the 25 watt modern mode. Not quite as much guts on the 10 watt, but that gives variety in other ways. I dont turn the volume past 1/4 in my basement or stuff upstairs starts shaking. Not as mini in volume as you might think.

Best lunchbox amp with the most headroom, by far... And it's made in North America. Pitched towards the parent's basement metal-head, this amp provides so much more than just that nostalgic mesa look and sound, but versatility and useability. The clean sounds clean, and if you crank it up, you can get a nice heavy metal chuck. More balls than the Tubemeister (stupid name from the HnK marketting department btw), and more options than any of the terror amps, this is worth the little extra in the long run. Two things... One is the illogical foot switch. There are too many options within each channel, therefore just switching between channels alone is pointless when most of the control is on the amp board itself. If I could control the saturated/crunch, the pushed/clean and the wattage number for each channel with my foot, that would have been real nice, even though a more elaborate foot board would have driven up the price a little more. And two, the Effects Loop sucks tone. While this amp does come with an effects loop, there is a noticeable volume dump when engaged and effects don't sound as normalized compared to when plugged into the front of the amp, specifically a boost/overdrive and an a few octave fuzzes. I have tried 4 different octave fuzz pedals and i cannot for the life of me get one to work with this amp, plugged both in front and in the effects loop. Diamond Fireburst, EHX Big Muff, Catalinbread Manx Loaghtan, and With all the options that come with, its not surprising that it came with a crappy footswitch as they probably wanted to stay within the $1,000 price point. i'm sticking with it until mesa makes a mini mark V, gnomesayin' ?

I bought this amp because I wanted something for bedroom practice , And man this amp does it all ! You can get tons of gain at low volume and on channel one clean mode with 25 watts is plenty enough to get a clean sound out . I also brought this amp to jam with my buddies and it is more than loud enough . We were in a garage and I was on 10 watts and couldn't even turn it up halfway ! All in all this is exactly what I wanted, That high gain mesa sound in bedroom size , yet big enough to jam and even gig with :) The only reason I gave the features a 9 is because since this is a smaller amp compared to the other mesa amp's it doesn't have as many features. But the features that it does have are awesome . Bottom line , Amazing amp ! I would most definitely recommend this .

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
