The BluGuitar AMP1 Iridium Edition is a completely redesigned, uncompromisingly metal-voiced, all analogue 100-watt Nanotube pedal board amp with a sparkling clean channel and three independant, discrete high gain channels.

The 4 Preamps
Three independent, discrete OVERDRIVE channels deliver rich and tight distortion sounds that can be changed in gain structure and timbre. Each of these channels offers different attack, response and dynamics. The CLEAN channel with its massive headroom and treble reserves gives even mid-heavy humbuckers transparent, sparkling clean sounds.
MODERN - With its extremely high gain reserves, this channel delivers crystal-clear string separation through a massive low-cut, and the Custom Control TONE knob lets you dial from a "cut thru the mix" solo sound to the typical "maximum brutality" mid scoop.
CLASSIC - Due to the hard distortion characteristics and the specially tuned bass filter, this channel is percussive and significantly wider and harder in the mid-range than VINTAGE. The mid-range can be shaped by the Custom Control TONE from "Hot Rodded British High Gain" to "German wall of sound".
VINTAGE - Tight and mid-emphasized woody sounds that are transmitted tightly especially using extreme low tunings while delivering creamy mid- range distortion.
CLEAN - Massive headroom thanks to the 100 watt power amp and treble reserves, which give even mid-emphasized humbuckers a transparent, sparkling clean sound. Optimal platform for pedals like shimmer reverb, modulation or delay.

BOOST & NOISE Gate
The AMP1 Iridium Edition features an adjustable gain/boost function that is placed in front of all four channels like a pedal, as well as a metal-essential, high-efficiency noise gate with three different levels of sensitivity.
BOOST - Use the custom control knob to adjust the amount of gain. It has a moderate mid hump to give cleaner sounds more definition, or to give overdriven sounds more gain without turning muddy.
Cranked all the way up, it will sound more like an overdriven preamp or a Tube Screamer, giving you even richer tones for creamy yet tight overdrive sounds.
NOISE GATE - The Noise Gate offers three positions:
METAL - Extremely fast and hard. High gain playing and staccato riffs become sharper, and palm muted parts clean up with no unwanted noise.
OFF - In this position, the noise gate is deactivated.
SOFT - In this position the Noise Gate is extremely sensitive and responds to the lowest signals, so the quietest nuances are still audible without being cut off.

Recording OUT
The loudspeaker simulation of the AMP1 Iridium Edition is analog and is voiced specially for metal sounds. A special Current Feedback creates an authentic tube amp feel with punch and bite.

I purchased this with the intent of using it as a portable rig for where I can't haul my other tube heads (an EVH 5150 and Mesa Boogie Mark V). Well what can I say - the EVH has since been sold! This amp sounds amazing and has a great response out of the box playing through a cab, better than my Axe FX through a power amp. I could get tones close enough to my liking to the EVH within the first 10m of playing through it, and I can also get tones that keep pace with the Mark V pretty easily. The clean channel also sounds great and covers a ton of ground with just the input gain and the tone mini knob. Overall I'd say that the tube amps feel just slightly warmer and smoother than the amp 1, but its barely noticible and I imagine this difference gets smaller the higher you turn up the master volume. Its certaintly far closer than I've gotten with my Axe FX, and thats not a slight to Fractal as the Axe FX is already super close to the real amps! In terms of features, Thomas did a great job at giving you pretty much everything you need; the mini knobs on the unit are a great way to change the character of the amp modes as well as matching volume levels no matter what your settings are. If I had a single complaint, it'd be the shared EQ between the clean and dirty channels. I find that I generally like to run the dirty channel with more top end than the clean channel likes, but I can roll back my volume to get my clean channel where I'd want it to be. Its not a major issue because I can still get the sounds I want without modifying any settings on the amp 1, and I imagine if I were playing it at gigging volumes I'd be rolling off the top end anyway. Another perk of this amp is that it sounds great at bedroom volumes without any help. It does sound better at louder volumes, but as a comparison my Mark V and former EVH both really need an attenuator to be enjoyable to play at bedroom volumes. Honestly, if you're in the market for a modern metal amp I'd strongly recommend checking this out. Its not just a secondary rig for when you're too lazy to bring out your big amps, it can hold its own and it fits in your gigbag! Its an amazing piece of gear that sounds great and gives you so much value and functionality, not even factoring in how reasonable the price tag is.

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
