I wanted a better ukulele than my entry-level Hilo 2652 soprano ukulele, which was fun to play but had poor intonation and was basically out of tune with itself. After a lot of research and searching through the Long and McQuade website I thought this Leho must be a good one to try. It was out of stock in store so I ordered it online and brought it into the shop to compare to the others in the $200 range. Firstly this is the only solid wood ukulele in this price range and secondly you have to spend almost twice the cost for the next solid wood uke. It is much more beautiful in person and has a lighter, more reddish wood than the photo. It is also about an inch bigger than the standard soprano size which I like. The neck is fuller and rounder and therefore easier to grip for adult hands. There are 18 frets instead of the usual 12. The fit and finish is quite nice. It has great intonation and sustain, and holds its tune well. It sounds better than other models and brands in the price range. The only other uke that sounded and played better was the Kala KA-SMHC, the solid mahogany concert. The Kala nevertheless is almost twice the cost and not nearly as beautiful, so I decided this was the best and prettiest uke for the price. Very happy!
