HX Stomp is a professional-grade multi-effects processor that delivers the sound of Helix amps, cabs, and effects in an ultra-compact pedal. Whereas the Line 6 HX Effects pedal is designed to be the centerpiece of a pedalboard, providing full control over individual effects, amp switching, and external MIDI-equipped pedals - HX Stomp is a programmable amp/cab/effects/IR pedal that seamlessly integrates into a variety of environments and applications. Use it as a "super stompbox," a backup or fly rig, an add-on tone expander when combined with other modelers, an audio interfaceor even a complete guitar or bass rig.

The same HX Modeling technology that powers the flagship Helix guitar processor enables HX Stomp to run up to six processing blocks simultaneously, with pristine audio quality, making it the most powerful and flexible stompbox-sized multi-effects processor currently available. Along with over 300 amps, cabs, and effects - even a looper - the HX Stomp multi-effects processor includes a legacy library of effects from Line 6 M-Series pedals, as well as from classic Line 6 stompbox modelers such as the DL4, MM4, FM4, and DM4. There are also presets created specifically for bass players, as well as individual bass amp and cab models.

Additional features include a choice of true bypass and DSP bypass with trails, a stereo effects loop for patching other pedals into the signal chain and 4-Cable Method setups, a jack for connecting two external footswitches or expression pedals, extensive MIDI control, IR (impulse response) loading capabilities, and a multichannel 24-bit/96kHz USB audio interface. The free HX Edit app allows you to customize nearly every aspect of the pedals operation, create, save and load presets. It also provides preset librarian capabilities, IR loading, and more.

Features:

- Utilizes the same DSP chip and HX Modeling as Helix
- Compact yet extremely powerful
- Highest possible audio quality throughout, plus both true bypass and DSP bypass with trails
- Over 300 effects and models from Helix, M-Series, and legacy Line 6 products
- Up to 6 simultaneous amp, cab, and effect blocks (including a looper and IR loading) provide extensive tone-crafting options
- A complete guitar or bass rig in one pedal
- 3 capacitive-sensing footswitches with color-coded LED rings facilitate ease of use and fast editing
- Split/parallel signal paths provide flexible routing for both simple and complex signal chains
- TRS dual expression pedal/footswitch input extends creative control capabilities
- Stereo effects loop (mono/stereo TRS send + stereo returns) facilitates use with other pedals

Had the Stomp for a few years now, bought used at L+M. Condo living means quiet guitar sounds. I have learned more about effects from the Stomp and enjoy using it. The frequent updates add to the fun factor. I still use an amp and pedalboard live but use the Stomp exclusively at home, into powered monitors. Havent mic'd a speaker in years.

I've had this unit for a little over four weeks now. In that time, I've used it in a multitude of situations: 1. In the front of my amp like a standard distortion pedal 2. Four cable method with more effects in the loop 3. A Preamp replacement, plugging directly into the amp's FX return and using the HX unit's various Preamps 4. A direct-to-pc recording interface 5. An acoustic guitar processor 6. An acoustic guitar re-imaging tool using the incredibly powerful IR tech. 7. A stand-alone guitar rig sim for practicing with headphones while my wife does Yoga The PC based HX Edit software is very intuitive and user friendly, allowing me to change settings and save patches quickly. There's also a ton of online support from both Line6 and its users available to newcomers to the HX Stomp. If you're questioning the sound quality, I have several of the pedals on my board that I've A/B'd against the HX models (think DS-1, Tubescreamer, etc) and I couldn't possibly tell the difference between them. The newly released 3.5 version added a ton of new cabinet simulations.

After using my Boss GT-100 for the last 2 years and not being able to find any sounds that were usable I decided to sell it and buy a HX Stomp. This thing is awesome ! I found some great built in presets and a pile of free patches on Line 6 site. It's easy to navigate and alter/create patches. It's making me enjoy playing again . I used to think Boss was the only name for great effects but they aren't even in the same playing field as Line 6.

The best IMO are the amp simulations, a lot to choose from, most of them sound phenomenal and if they don't with a little tweaking you would make it anything sound great. My Favorites are the High watt and the Matchless. Another Pro are the delays, man they sound good!!!, and you can recreate any configuration, place 3 delays together or more, get creative and crazy (dotted 8, percussive delays, spacey triple delay etc).... I even sold my Flashback2x4 because I was able to recreate the presets right away. Reverbs are awesome too, but wish there some of "spacey" types to mess around, but it is ok. Cons, the PITCHS, those pitch and the tracking are really disappointing, I have an EHX superego plus, which I use for Pitch effects and that pedal tracks 10 times better, the pitch for the HX stomp feels way too digital, the tracking sometimes, does not even work even with single notes. Another cons, is the blocks, only 6. Which is enough for me but for this price, it should be at least 8. And the Price. I almost (almost) return it because of the price. Yes, it is an amazing pedal, the size is convenient, but $954 taxes included is a lot. Especially since it cannot completely replace my pedal board. I still need my stomp box and pitch pedals. (Glad L&M offers financing, thanks Rocktober). Final cons is the time required to Set presets, as any multi effect, you have to sit down and tweak until you get the right sound. I managed to make a 20 presets and then I copied the same 20 and changed the Amp block for an FX Loop Block, That way i can have the same effects while practicing with headphones and also when going to the Amp Fx loop. This is important since it makes it a back up amp, so not much of a con. So, if you are not into Pitch Shifters, this is an All in one, perfect for recording device. I think it is an 8/10. A Keeper that kept me wishing just a little bit more. But definitely a keeper.

Got the grey one. For some reason it was 30 bucks cheaper? I took it, colour doesnt matter to me.I wanted this over the effects because the amp sims and cab and mic sims and the smaller footprint. Took a day to fully grasp the basics and im still learning. You can do quite a bit with it. I had good results even putting it front of my micro orange with amp sims on. In fact I preferred the sound with the amp sims on through the front of the amp instead of just using it as an effect stompbox. Lotsa tweaking you can do. Now i'm just running it into some cheap monitors to try to get a better sense of the simulations and ir's. Im enjoying it. It has a nice solid weight to it, doesnt feel chintzy. The screen is nice and bright and I like the colours around the stomp buttons. I'm happy with it.

I bought this at Whyte Ave in Edmonton, Staff at Edmonton South were friendly and helpful, they were out of the original black (which is 30 bucks cheaper than the blue and grey) so they called the store at Whyte Ave and place the product on hold. (the Whyte Ave staff were nice too!) I set it all up and it sounds amazing! The effects and Amps and everything else are amazing. this is my first big purchase, it is well spent in my opinion. I do recording so it fits my needs, hopefully I'll start an Alt. Rock Band, I have what I need now. My next purchase will probably be the HX Effects to expand my board!! (I also bought a Mission Expression pedal for Line 6 Gear

Fantastic. I sold my pedals and JCM800 with cabinet. I thought I would never do it...! Performing direct into mixer live and no more heavy amp. I found my amp and favorite effects right away. I am actually setting up all the amps I've played with in the past or wanted to own. From twin reverb clean, to JAZZ to Heavy Rock and searing leads. ..even works with my acoustic or BASS guitar! Check out the online manual in Line6.com for the HX Stomp... all the amps and effects are sampled in this small but mighty machine! The sound is exact. … even Better, I can tweak the tones, and actually get a better sound that is more versatile and variable. I like there is only 3 footswitches. Keep it simple Sam! Wow - the computer interface and ability to save all of your presets on the computer makes set up and recovery soooo easy! You should invest time understanding the power of this rig and how to do what you need to do. lots of YouTube and reading available. Once you've learned it,,, oh the power. I truly never thought I would let go of my vacuum tubes. Recording, performing and practicing is a pleasure. I recommend taking the leap of faith with this. Every guitar player should have it. ( AND if you can't let go of your favorite pedals, keep them and loop them in the send and return of the HX) Line 6 is a standard to follow for all other pedals and samplers. Well done Line 6 HX Stomp.

Where I feel this unit excels--in particular, over the full-sized units--is its ability to integrate with an existing pedal board (at least, that's how I'm using it). I'd dabbled in amp modeling, in the past, but kept coming back to my analog effects pedals into a couple of of decent tube amps. Adding the HX Stomp, to my pedal board, gives me the ability to use my traditional pedal board in just about every conceivable way. Want to practice with headphones? You bet, just plug them in! Record direct into your DAW? Yup! Run direct to a PA system? Super easy! Run it like a traditional pedal into a tube amp (no amp or cab modeling)? Absolutely! Run it into a power amp into an extension cab? Works like a charm! Use the preamp models into the effects return of of an amp? Sounds killer! You can also combine these set ups. For example, I've got one stereo preset where the left output is a modeled amp going to a power amp and extension cab, and the right output (with no amp modeling) out to the input of a tube amp. Line 6 deserves huge kudos for the thought that went into this product. The sounds? Some of the amp and cab models I don't care for. But there are more than enough options to find a few that you'll love. The amp models also respond to pedals much like their real world counterparts. Playing direct, or through headphones, no longer has to be a tone compromise! Cons? It's almost too small. If you use all of the inputs (say for a four cable set up), it starts to turn into a bit of an octopus. The screen is a bit hard to read while standing (at least for me). And the knobs seem like they could be easily bumped by a clumsy foot. I'm crossing my fingers that the knobs are sturdy.

I bought the HX stomp primarily for its amp models in the studio, and I was blown away at the quality of the models. Although I don't love most of the factory presets, creating and editing new presets is super easy (even for a luddite like me) and within minutes I was creating amazing amp tones. My favourites are the Fender amp models (Twin, Deluxe and Champ), and the HiWatt model was also a really nice surprise. The Friedman model is great for more saturated tones, though I wasn't too fussed with the Mesa models. I still have yet to dive into all the various amp models, as there are so many! The effects are amazing, too. Even the distortions are very serviceable, particularly the Minotaur (Klon clone). Check out Pete Thorn's video for a good demo on what this thing can do. This is a must for studios, and can also be a full rig if your amp goes down on stage.

Opinions about the quality of the Helix amp and effects models aside, the HX Stomp is by far the most powerful and most compact DSP rig you get right now. It's basically a Helix with a 6 module limitation. If your signal chain can fit within that limitation, this can be your entire rig ? in something that easily fits into a gig bag pocket.

Line 6 has created an incredible product in the HX Stomp. Perfect for taking along for practices, travel or gigging when you don't want to haul along the full sized version. Of course at $800, it is missing some features that it's big brothers offer. The single DSP chip limits you to 6 blocks. If you run an amp and cab IR, that takes up two blocks leaving you with only 4 pedal choices. In some ways, that's good as it forces you to focus on what you need. In other ways, it defeats the purpose if you end up having to add extra pedals to make up for the lack of blocks. Line 6 has a great history of supporting their products, and given this is in the line-up with arguably their most popular products, I'm hoping they'll be supporting it for many years to come!

There's a lot to love about this unit; sounded great, the computer interface was well designed, good connection options. Sadly, attempting to update the firmware bricked it. Looking at other options now. And as always, I was well-taken care of by the sterling staff at Long and McQuade.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
