The Radial BigShot ABY is a compact ABY switcher that enables you to either switch between two amplifiers or combine the signal when you want both amps to play at the same time.

• True-bypass ABY amp selector with LED indicators
• On-board transformer to eliminate hum & buzz
• 180 degree polarity reverse to phase-match amps
• 100% passive audio path, does not require power

Designed for the purist, this true-bypass ABY switcher is completely passive meaning that there are no tone altering buffers in between the guitar and the amplifier. With the BigShot ABY, you get the pure tone from your guitar plugged direct into your amp! To add versatility, the BigShot ABY is also equipped with a separate tuner out. This 'always on' output feeds your tuner for constant monitoring while keeping it out of the signal chain. Should you experience hum and buzz problems due to ground loops, the BigShot ABY comes to the rescue with a built-in isolation transformer and ground lift switch. Once engaged, you can toggle the polarity of the second amplifier to ensure both amps play in absolute phase.

In use, the BigShot ABY is both simple to use and efficient on stage. When powered by an external 9V supply or pedalboard power brick, full size super-bright LEDs spring to life to provide instant on-stage amplifier status readout. When power is unavailable, the passive audio signal path still works, unaffected. The compact yet ultra-rugged design makes the BigShot ABY ideal for pedalboards where space is always at a premium.

The BigShot ABY... the most versatile true-bypass switcher made today!

Bought this to split my bass between an amp and a tube preamp for recording. I was getting some hiss just using a 1/4" Y splitter. This box eliminates the hiss. Since this is a studio application, it's going to sit behind a rack and never see the light of day again, but if I were to use it on a pedal board, it's built very tough and I would have no worries about wear and tear. The best part about this purchase is that it was made in Canada and purchased from a CDN retailer (L&M), a pretty rare thing these days.

This little unit works exactly as it should - I have tried 2 amp setups in the past and had the usual problems with ground loops, phase issues etc. This device solves those problems quickly and easily - just flip a switch. The manual is simple and clear, and identifies an issue that isolating amp 2 may change it's tone slightly, which it does. That is probaby a feature with any such device. Seems very solid and well made. I can't vouch for it's durability over time, only had it for a week or so - decided that the 2 amp thing wasn't for me at this time, but many players swear by it - "wet/dry", dual mono etc.

Pro's......................................................... - Tuner Out is a bonus. -Its True Bypass. - Ground Switch -You can use it without power but you won't have lights to show you which amp your on, but most of the time its easy enough to tell which amp is on or if both are engaged. -Has a switchable inline Transformer(on Ch.B) to eliminate hum/buzz. -Phase reverse to match amps if they are out of Phase with each other. That's the biggest thing I needed because 99.9 percent of the time your cabs will be the same phase as each other but Amps can often be the problem, and be out of phase with each other, not always, but sometimes, so this will save your butt whether its an amp, cab or cable that's not in phase! -Can be used as a Channel Switcher for amps. Run out A/B to Ch.1/2 of your amp and switch away! -Can be used as an Amp Mute for tuning. Send out A or B to your Amp and when you press the A/B Switch button it mutes your amp. -Great size Con's....................................................... - Does not come with a power supply (but its a 9v Center Negative so same as most pedal power supplies. - No battery option for the lights/or if you don't have access to an outlet or power supply

This works great and feels solid. It feels like it will out live me. It lets me sort out the issues you get when you pair up amps just like advertised. I like that you can run it without power and I like that it is a quality Canadian product.

Product works extremely well with both my effects chains. It works perfectly with the Radial Mix Blender. I now have total control over my effects! I can mix and match whatever I want! I can now connect all the effects to my send/return jacks on my Blackstar amp. If you have a lot of pedals, this product is for you! I do recommend the Mix Blender to combine the effects into one signal.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
