Sempre Music Sicilienne, Op.78 - Faure/Thorne - Flute Quartet
Additional Photos:
Composer: Gabriel Faure
Arranger: Melanie Thorne
Format: Score and Parts
Instrumentation: Flute Quartet
Faure originally wrote his captivating Sicilienne for a production which unfortunately went bankrupt before ever the music was performed. Thankfully, he later arranged the orchestral setting as a solo for cello and piano and, concurrently, thought to include it in the incidental music for a play, Pelleas et Melisande. The Sicilienne has seen arrangements for everything from panpipes to tuba over the years, and Thorne here crafts an excellent arrangement for flute quartet, effectively translating the usual piano or harp accompaniment to the wind instruments.
