Grand Mesa Music Publishing The Earthen Cathedral - Hatfield - Concert Band - Gr. 3.5
Additional Photos:
Composer: Marcus Hatfield
Format: Score and Parts
Instrumentation: Concert Band
Level: 3.5
Inspired by Mount Princeton, one of the 14,000-foot mountains visible from Buena Vista, Colorado, the composer has captured a sense of awe and dignity in this very original band work. Hatfield uses two basic motifs, one melodic and one rhythmic (first presented in brass and timpani as an introductory figure) to paint his austerely beautiful musical portrait of one of the earth's gems. Like shifting views of the mountain, the rhythmic nature of this profound band work slowly shifts to reveal different aspects of the thematic materials, and your players and audience will be left awed and inspired by this lofty band work!
