Bought these to replace the dreadful locking rotomatic Grovers that were common on newer Les Pauls. Rotomatics are ok if you don't vary your tuning much but the main reason I have a Les Paul is because of the fixed bridge. I can change tunings sometimes drastically low to mimic a seven string. Can't do it on a Floyd Rose bridge because it floats or with rotomatic tuners. Rotomatic tuners have short string trees so on the lowest strings, especially the A and E you run out of windings on low tunings. The regular Gibson or Grover tuners that I replaced the rotomatics with look the same as rotomatics but with a bigger string tree for more string windings. Works great now.

These are Gibson branded Grover tuners. Elsewhere on this site, L&M sell a set of Grovers that appear identical to these for less money. What's the difference? These are nickel... the less expensive set are chrome plated. Nickel hardware is the high-end stuff. Looks better, feels better, ages to a beautiful vintage patina over the years. Chrome plating... not so much.
Chrome gets pitted and that's pretty much it. Anyway, that's why these cost extra. Your mileage may vary.
