I was always a Boss fan and bought based on how familiar I was with their pedals but there seemed to be a lot of guitarists either jumping on to Strymon which is expensive or TC Electronics pedals. On the Flashback there are more modes and a customizable Toneprint mode that you can load with an artist preset via USB. Overall the pedal tone is warmer and thicker over the Boss. The Mod mode has a very noticeable chorus built into the delay but on the Boss its barely there. The rate and feedback knobs are very adjustable and affect the effect with a greater range. The milliseconds go to a whopping 7ms which is double over the Boss. I always thought the Boss was the standard as it still sells like hotcakes but the TC Flashback is a far superior pedal. The only thong I don't like is the button to activate the pedal. It is a little flimsy whereas the Boss still has its tried and true large footswitch.

I rented a delay pedal and really didn't get it. It was fun to play with but I really found it useless. But a year later I was building my board after joining my first band and I was looking into what Jacob Binzer used for effects and delay was a key part and the Flashback was his delay. I looked some more into TC Electronics and I was sold. I have had it for 6 months now and there is a learning curve but Tore from TC Electronic has posted some very helpful video's online. I pretty much used only Toneprints for the first 4 months but now I am doing most of it on my own and really feel that the ability to create my own tone print is just around the corner. I currently play in a country rock band and this thing on all the time and the singer loves it. I have setting that give it a real twang to the bends and gives a tone similar to great chicken pickin that I can't actually do. For the more rock songs I have a setting that bring more fullness to the notes on lead and gives rhythm just the right atmosphere. Plus of course it is amazingly fun to just make noise with. I would recommend that if you have an fx loop that it goes there. I tried it in front of the amp and found that it sounded very mechanical and did nothing for my tone.

Great pedal, price is reasonable for what you get. Don't buy this for the looper function alone, as it's not very long...I think ypou get 45 seconds under mono and maybe 20 under stereo input...I was hoping it would have been a longer loop time, but it is still workable. The different delays are great, I love the tones on the Mod Delay...beautiful sounds....And as always, TonePrint is amazing.

Had this pedal since I started playing on electric and mainly use the tone print, I like the idea of having a set range that I can handle, a range that I'm comfortable with, at 9 o'clock or 3, it sounds good to me.

I have only used 3 different delays in my life time, so my experience with them are rather limited. The previous two delays I used were the Boss DD-3 and DD-5, until I traded in the DD-5 to get this Flashback after watching some YouTube reviews. The first impression is that how compact this delay feels in comparison to the Boss. The turn knobs are shaped to provide clarity in my selections; the footswitch requires some force to actuate; there are many different options of delay types, and the ones I use most frequently are Analogue and Tape. I find the TC exclusive 2290 sound to be a little too bright for my liking (I like my delays rather subtle). I also stack the delay in Mod with my reverb to create ambient swells, this also works fairly well with a good boost and valve amps. The tap function will require the drummer to maintain tempo throughout the song - i cannot imagine how it will turn out if the tempo changes and I will have to hold mute the delay to re-enter the new tempo. Overall this delay is able to offer various types of sound while providing true bypass while switched off. The tap feature is a concern but can be overcome once get used to.

This delay allows you to make just about any delay sound you can imagine. It's great for the variety is has built in for the money. The Tone Print features are fun although a little gimmicky. I guess I can see Tone Prints being useful. The odd thing here is with the pedals Audio Tap feature. To set the time on the pedal you can either turn the dial or use the Audio Tap. You hold down the switch until it mutes and then strum the time in on the guitar. Cool right? No, NOT RIGHT! I can't see how this feature wouldn't make me nuts in a live setting. Drummer drift a little and I need to reset the temp, so I have to mute and drop out entirely and then come back in. Not great. Also there is a handy light on the pedal that isn't blinking in time to the tap. It doesn't really blink at all. These two things make this pedal kind of out of the running for me for a live setting. Decided to go with a Diamond Memory Lane Jr. instead. Better live workflow.

This delay can do anything. Sounds amazing on most settings and there are some nice tone prints available too. Looper is decent too. Only thing I dont like is the footswitch. Other than that, this delay has the best value out of others in this price range.

Great features at a great price. The 'strum' tempo feature works excellently. The looper has the added benefit of governing your signal too, so you can crank the hell out of your OD and distortion pedals for maximum saturation without blowing the windows out of your house.

This pedal has it all! The classic 2290, custom audio-tapping, dynamic delay, analog delay, the all-mighty toneprint feature and to top it all off, a 40 second built-in looper which is very simple and easy to use! It also offers the option of going from true bypass to buffer mode. Legendary TC built quality, a must have!

Awesome bang for the buck. Outstanding sound quality at any price. True pro-grade features and build-quality. This thing is what every delay-peddle should be.
