My new D10-E is a beauty. Tone & ring-out is superb. Action is set perfectly, easy to play using the installed Martin medium gauge strings. I play folk, country, blues & gospel with it now. Have parked my Gibson LP American Standard Gold Top also purchased at the L & M Owen Sound store for now. The D10-E suits my purpose better at a monthly Open Mic in our Church. This affordable Martin Acoustic Electric was featured recently on a SNL broadcast. Pickin' & Grinnin', proud new owner, thank you L & M.

Good guitar for flatpicking in this price range. Lots of sustain and volume as well as great tone. Use medium gauge strings like Martin recommends. Can still be heard unplugged in a room full of other instruments. The neck is very comfortable (this is why I have a thing with Martin's). Can't go wrong with these. Definitely preferred over the x-series.

This guitar is so well balanced. It might be made more so for the gigging musician but it's actually perfect for just playing around at home and it's a Martin so it sounds great on record as well. If you put headphones on you can even get the DI really tight with the tone knob inside the hole. The built in tuner is a huge plus as well.

in my earlier review I complained about sharp fret edges on my D-10e. I'm happy to report that Bob(at my local L&M) filed the frets and now it plays great! And at no charge! Thanks Bob!

Seriously , if you're in the market for a guitar at this price, You can't pass on the D10e. Great feeling guitar , sounds like only a Martin can and it's 100% Martin all the way through From the minute I picked it up and put it on my lap, I knew she was coming home with me and the first strum sealed the deal. Build quality is exceptional The neck is smooth and fast as expected for a Martin Sound is Pure Martin beautiful lows and highs , well blended mids Setup out of box was 100% I LOVE the Matt finish , It's great on stage as it soaks up the light as opposed to the light bouncing off it ...Much nicer visual appeal Onboard pickup are Pure gold, and the built in sound hole tuner is a Cool with a feature that Mutes the guitar output when You click the tuner . The Gig bag is quite good quality , it fits well, easy to carry and has Handy Backpack straps which is my preferred way of carrying it .It's padded well enough to protect the guitar but not adding a bunch of weight . Build quality is very nice Again if you're in the Market for a guitar at this price range Bypass the Taylor 114 and come to a Martin D10E Then come back and Thank me :P Cheers

Really like this Guitar! Sounds great! Plays well! My only complaint is sharp frets along the edges of the fingerboard.I've been keeping this guitar in the proper humidity range, not sure how it was stored before I bought it.I know that sharp frets can be caused by humidity issues.I'm hoping my warranty covers a fret dressing because they are quite sharp!

Bought mine in May 2019. Pretty great overall, best part is that it's not a Taylor, therefore it's not all snowflakey and bright, it has some meat and potatoes. Plays great and records well. It is very solid overall with balance tone and playability, therefore I'm saying the intonation and tone is well balanced, most guitars suffer from some issues in this department. I found it's extremely important in this Winnipeg climate to keep it in the case and keep an eye on the humidity level of the wood. I had an issue leaving it out in a dry room that had forced air, it really affected the playability , and took a long time to return to a satisfactory condition, look into having a case or guitar humidifier especially in the dry winter months. Another huge issue for me personally is the built in tuner, it works great but on my particular model the lcd cover plastic little see through circular disk that covers the tiny lcd display isn't secured tight enough and rattles. It's a freak issue, but it's enough to drive you crazy trying to figure out where that rattle is coming from , it took quite a while to track down the sound and since I record a lot with it it is paramount to keep rattles and buzzes to a minimum. Still a happy camper after these albeit not common issues. Its been a few years almost and the guitar is a mainstay of pleasure and keeps sounding better over time like a true Martin of course ! Awesome Axe .

I've always loved the Martin sound. Sweet, rich mellow tone that can only be Martin. Great price for this gem. All solid and excellent quality. The action is a little high for my preference so I will have to lower it by shaving off the saddle a little bit. I am one very happy strummer.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
