The electronic components are good. The construction is abysmal. 2 of 2 customers found this review helpful

I managed to keep mine in "workable" condition longer than most. This is with continuous repairs throughout its lifespan and NEVER travelling with them without the case. The plastic at the joints WILL break. Id advise going with another brand. I babied these because I was aware they were fragile and it still did not matter. If these were 70 dollar junkers it would be fine. Save yourself an extra 400. If you are using them for production go with Beyerdynamic 700 or 900 pro x (depending if you need closed or open) or if they are for tracking go with one of the cheaper models. These will not last.

Didn't realize how big of an issue the brittle headband was until I tried to replace it. Headband broke right at the connection to the ear piece from the gentlest use ever. I probably put the headphones on less than 100 times and that was enough to wear out the headband. Shocking how bad the design is for a pair of $400 headphones.

I use them for guitar practicing. Heavy distortion mostly. Great sound quality. Good thing L&M stands behind their products though because I've had 3 pairs, in the past 2 years, separate where the headband meets the plastic. ALL 3, SAME PLACE!!! I didn't just get a bad pair, this is a design flaw.

They sound really good but after minimal use they started coming apart (wiring). I use my equipment much less than the average musician no doubt, and never travelled anywhere with these. I thought that by purchasing a tried and tested brand name and by paying a fair price I would have these for a very long time. Not the case.

The sound quality is absolutely fantastic, I will not dispute that. They are the best-sounding headphones I have ever used. My music and games sound incredible with these.
However... Under completely normal use, I have had to get these headphones replaced under warranty 4 times already. The earpieces are made of cheap plastic, and after about two and a half months of use, you start to see cracks around the earpieces... and before you know it, it starts falling apart.
Shure should have spent more of their budget on the build quality, instead of the fancy carry-case.

Fairly balanced sound is marred by noises from the complex mounting supports for the ear pieces. Must keep absolutely still when listening or will be distracted by various squeaks and clicks.Go for the 840 instead.
