I have rented and played both Epiphone and Gibson SG Standards, but I chose the Tribute for it's worn finish and melodic clean tones in all three positions. I already have two fine Epiphone SG's, and two Custom Shops, and the difference in features between the Gibson Standard vs Tribute were too superficial to justify spending another 700 bucks. It is a great guitar in it's versatility in that it is an excellent peace of gear for both beginners and novices. It should be in everyone's collection.

ive been using this guitar for over 10 years. Been played in studios, live performance, and bedroom. Stays in tune. The 2 tone and 2 volume knobs offer versatility in tones. Not crazy high output from the bridge pickup, but easy fix. Love the finish and look of it. Feels great.

Always wanted an SG and this one for the price is terrific. The neck/fret board feels wonderful to my hand and fingers and the pickups sound fantastic. If you want a Gibson SG that is not overpriced, this is the one to get. Shout out to Spencer for all his help.

I always wanted a gibson sg but couldn't justify spending alot of money on one. Buying used is ok if you find the right one. I'm mainly a stratocaster guy have several of them but I wanted a 2 humbucker guitar and the sg was it. I was originally gonna buy a the sg standard at alot more money. Then I tried the tribute model and wow was I was in love with it right away. The neck is amazing and pickups sound awesome. I didn't need all the bells and whistles the more expensive models have I just needed a guitar that felt good and sounded good the tribute was it. They don't come with a hard case but the soft case provided is perfect and happy with it. I've had this guitar for about 6 months or so and it gets played very happy with guitar and of course they great service at the Kanata store.

I came into the store prepared to spend the money on an Gibson SG Cherry 61 I was totally disappointed with the slim taper neck it was thin and just didn't fit nice in my hand I then tried the Tommy Iommi model the same result did not feel right in my hand! I guess I'm spoiled I like a good 50s rounded neck? a bit of meat on the bone! Well I was about to give up when Luke asked have you tried the Tribute model! As soon as Like put her in my hands it was love at first sight!
Needless to say I took her home!
Plus the price is excellent for the product that you are getting and it sounds every bit as good as the high priced stuff!
If you are in the market for an SG seriously consider the Tribute? you will not be disappointed!

I had originally tried out an Epiphone SG Gibson Inspired series because of the price, but in the end, I didn't like the feel of it, so I decided to save up for the Gibson SG Tribute because a Standard was still too expensive for me. My lucky day. I found it back East for $250 less, and L & M price matched it. When I came in yesterdfay, the price had gone back up to normal, but L & M honoured the price match anyway. Since they did that, I also decided to pick up a Gretsch G5222, and both guitars were still less than a Standard SG (lol). I now have a little Angus and a little Malcolm. I just love the way the SG feels,. Light, satin finish, and a fast neck. Once I put on Super Slinkys, I had the sound and feel I wanted. Thanks Eddie for all your help. The guitar is awesome.

No frills. No bells or whistles. Nothing but legit US Gibson tone and playability. I've owned it for 6 months now, and it's my go-to for live and studio. The pickups are super hot and the guitar can absolutely scream, but it also has beautiful cleans and it's more versatile than I expected it to be.

Beautiful guitar that feels absolutely amazing. Sure it's missing a few features of a standard SG (finish, neck binding, trapezoid inlays) but I do not regret this purchase at all. A Gibson SG is $600 just for those features? Not worth it at all! This thing feels great to play, sounds great and I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

I have owned this Guitar now for a year and absolutely love it. It's a no non-sense, simple rock machine. It has the gibson quality you would come to expect stripped down to the basic necesseities required to get that rich tone you want from a Gibson. Doesn't matter what sound you are really looking for it will do it. Highly recommend to anyone looking to make that first jump into Gibson guitars.

I bought one of these beautiful guitars at the Rathburn Long & McQuade on Monday. It felt like it was a part of me the second I started playing it!
A smooth, tiny neck and lightweight body that took me on a warp speed ride to the tone zone. I was asking the salesman about it and he had a slip of the tongue and mentioned the "Satan" finish. I'm no dummy. The thing has devil horns and this guy says Satan instead of satin so I had to buy it!
Thanks so much Long & McQuade. I've been shopping with y'all for thirty years and it's always a great experience.

Just picked this gem up from the store on Thursday. I have barely put it down, other than to eat and sleep lol. Love the round neck profile, fits my large hands nicely. The satin finish on the neck feels very nice and fast. Not a finger print magnet as well. Factory setup is petty much in the ball park for my playing style. Would definitely recommend. Soft shell case that it comes with is very well built, and Berry protective. Allot more than any gig bash could ever be.

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty
A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.
Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.
How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.
Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.
Purchasing additional years of coverage
Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.
If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:
NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
