The new Les Paul Standard returns to the classic design that made it famous. It pays tribute to Gibson's Golden Era of innovation and brings authenticity back to life. The Les Paul Standard '50s P90 has a solid mahogany body with maple top and a rounded 50's-style mahogany neck with a rosewood fingerboard and trapezoid inlays. It's equipped with an ABR-1, the classic-style Tune-O-Matic bridge, aluminum stop bar tailpiece, vintage deluxe tuners with keystone buttons, and amber hat knobs. The classic P-90 pickups (neck and bridge) are loaded with AlNiCo V magnets, audio taper potentiometers and orange drop capacitors.

What can I say? Weighs a ton and has the tone to match as well. Setup pretty good out of the box although it will need a minor neck adjustment. Fit and finish are flawless. Definitely a must have guitar for Rock and Blues players. Big Thanks to Norik & Chris @ Burlington for getting this awesome GoldTop into my hands.

Circled this thing like a hammerhead shark for weeks before biting once Black Friday rolled around. (Seven bills off? Let’s go.) Hard to rate features highly because this is essentially a 70 year old design. But if vintage is what you want? This is it: baseball bat for a neck, P90s that sound full but sharp, stop bar and tuning stability and heavy as hell. This guitar is full of tone, sustain and built like it’s made of brick. I’m glad I finally took the plunge to get a proper Paul at a good price (they won’t get any cheaper!) If your lane is Bloomfield blues, classic or southern rock, then this guitar is for you. Thanks to Bill G. in Oshawa for doing the honours, as always.

I’ve had many Gibson’s in my lifetime and the one issue always with Gibson is their nut. Something of this quality should be prestige to say the least. After replacing the nut the intonation is still not as perfect as I would like with some being really close to being maxed out but that being said nicest Gibson I’ve had in a while ! But for a $4000.00 class instrument they need to figure some stuff out ! Finish is not that great tokais make much better imho

I just picked up this bad boy today {Oct. 18th 2022} I ordered it about a month ago. This one is correct one. No weight relief, 50's neck profile. I just love it. I am using Mesa California 4/40 combo and Mesa Gold Mine OD with this guitar. It sounds between Harmonica, Trumpet and violin, those territories. Using slide I could go near Duane Allman territory there. Hours passed playing it, did not feel tired or sleepy ... if you do not believe me, you can ask my neighbors. AWESOME.

Recently I picked up this model at L&M Oshawa. I owned a beat up old Gold top back in the early 80's, being young and foolish traded it for a super Strat. I always wanted another one and this latest offering from Gibson has totally exceeded every expectation. Nice chunky neck but not too big like the R8, one-piece back, and can't find one finish flaw. Did a minor truss rod tweak but that was it. I have not weighed it yet but it could be around 7-8lbs, doesn't feel to heavy at all for non weight relief. Kudos to Gibson, nice bonus accessories in the case and a bonus truss rod cover to make it look like a 56. Without a doubt the best guitar I've ever owned. I will play this one everyday for the rest of my life. Great for rock and blues and you can dial in some really nice country twang thanks to the very versatile P90's. If you get one like mine I guarantee you won't be disappointed. Hats off to this new era of Gibson guitars!

I’ve been waiting for the Standard to be built “properly “ for so long. They’ve finally done it. No weight relief, simple controls, vintage tuners. Mine is 10lbs + After not bonding with my SG for 3 years and being a Fender guy for so long I took a swing at the Standard Gold Top with p90’s. I love it. (Understatement) The Fenders are in their cases until further notice and my quest for “the 1” might be over. This guitar is exactly what I’ve been imagining my one and only could be. I’ve never been pushed to play heavier, more aggressively, more rhythmically, more dirty, more creatively nor have I had more fun than I am with this guitar. After a good 10 years on my Tele and less often on my strat I’ve found what’s been missing. Despite my love for these guitars, this Gold Top is better. Plain and simple. It’s not perfect, it came straight out of the box with flaws. Don’t kid yourself, Gibson’s fit and finish still isn’t as good as I could be but this girl don’t need to be flawless, she gives and gives exactly the way I need her to. BBG (big beautiful guitar) The p90’s are the sound I’ve been dreaming about for so long. Having this guitar waiting for me when I come home makes my work day easier. What can I say, I’m in love,,,

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
