Stingers are a patented bundled rod concept featuring a central foam core that provides a quick responsive bounce. Adding impact protection for the outer smaller diameter size rods, the foam core also helps mute the impact sound making Stingers the quietest bundled rod from Headhunters, and one of the quietest in this genre on the market today.

Stinger models available at Long & McQuade:

ST11 - 11 bamboo rods surrounding a central foam core
ST12 - 12 birch rods surrounding a central foam core

Feel like sticks, even quieter than traditional rods! 1 of 1 customers found this review helpful

I am a guitar player who fills in on drums in some circumstances. I can't really deal with brushed (which don't sound like sticks anyway) so I prefer playing with rods or whips on my Pearl Compact Traveller kit at small venues and open mics as they are quieter and don't overwhelm acoustic instruments or players who aren't used to playing with drums. The problem is that plastic whips (much like brushes) feel weird to me, and rods, although they feel and respond more like sticks, are much louder than whips and tend to break easily! I saw these and because they are hella reasonably-priced compared to other alternatives, decided to try the bamboo version, which (theoreticall) SHOULD be sturdier than wood rods. So far, they feel great, sound great, and, with the foam core, are MUCH quieter than traditional rods! I haven't played them for long, so I'll post an update in a while to speak to the durability, but, so far at least, they're EXACTLY what I was looking for!
