It features every function you can expect from your metronome and more. Tempo can be input with tempo markings or manually through tap-input with a range of 30 bpm to 252 bpm. The Timer Mode is perfect for rehearsing; you can set this in one-minute increments between one minute and 120 minutes, making it ideal for warming up or practicing the basics. Sound Out Mode provides a reference tone for tuning with a programmable C4-B4 one octave range. Additionally, the A4 note can be adjusted in 1 Hz increments in the range of 410 Hz to 480 Hz.

Q & A

Question: Can I use the timer and the metronome feature at the same time?
- asked on Oct 29, 2023
Answer: Yes. The timer will continue running even when the mode is changed. When the specified time has elapsed, the alarm will sound and the metronome will stop if running.

Sometimes a metronome on your phone just isn't enough as a smartphone occasionally has other priorities! Just give me a simple, stand-alone device. This one is tiny, inexpensive and has great features. I would just add to the description provided by Long & McQuade that odd time signatures can be subdivided as needed, for example 5 can be 2-3 or 3-2, and 7 can be 3-4 or 4-3. Nice features for such an inexpensive metronome. If there's one fly in the ointment then to me it's the rather harsh sounding chirp; I'd much prefer a neutral 'click' option. Maybe that's just me. Turning down the volume doesn't much improve the strident, un-musical character of the MA-2's tone. I did find stuffing a tiny piece of foam into the little port in front of its piezo-electric speaker takes much of that nastiness away, but if Korg were to ask me I'd say please offer a nicer sound under one of the menus!
