Yes sir, I Wanted one of these puppies for a long time. Gives that little extra sustain on guitar (leads sing better) or bass guitar and makes the EQ spectrum fuller so you can hear more across the EQ spectrum - Yummy! One Caution is: That if you over due the sustain knob it may not be to your taste. PS# It is addictive to leave it on all the time I must admit.

This is a really decent compressor. There is some colorization when you push on the sustain but between the emg pickup and high gain distortion, I actually cut the sustain slightly to clear up the sound as I get tons of sustain already. Even with the sustain cut, when you turn off and on the pedal, you are still getting lots of added sustain with the pedal on. There are better compressors out there but not in this price range, for its price, this pedal is pretty good and should serve the needs of most people.

I have an Ibanez 6 string bass. When i practice or play some where I had noticed something concerning with the sound due to the extra high and low strings. It was suggested I use a compressor to help balance out the 6 strings so I got this pedal about a month ago. I have other Boss pedals for my guitar and voice but what a difference this pedal made in the sound of my 6 string bass.

This is a well built pedal, exactly how you would expect a Boss pedal to be built. I've owned it for a couple of weeks now and just got it dialled in the way I like it for my Strat to sound. Now to see how it works with my Les Paul. The biggest complaint I have is the sustain feature. If you turn it past 12 o'clock, you get a lot of hiss. That said, you don't usually need to crank it up that high.

I bought this used for $50, thinking I would use it for country/surf sounds. After awhile, I got the idea to try it in the effects loop like I used to do with an overdrive or equalizer. The result is literally the "your sound, only louder" buzz phrase companies throw around all the time. Here are the settings I use currently: Volume: 3/4-max Tone: 3/4 Attack: 1/4 Sustain: 1/4-half I've combined this in the loop with delay and chorus/flanger/phaser, and produced some mind-blasting lead tones. Try it out!

This is a great pedal. It works very well. There are mods that can be made to make more bass come through, also to make it more transparent. If you are good with a soldering gun and don't mind putting in some time on google, you can find the popular mod. It also stays more true to the original tone. Which makes it great for bassist too.

I have owned this pedal for a couple weeks and have manipulated it's features to test it's range and capability. First off, it does what it's suppose to do, which is isolate tone to a volume you want to hear and rid of sounds you wish not to detect. There may be a better explanation, but that's the easiest way to appreciate it. Once you pass halfway on the sustain knob it does start to hiss, but I've heard other high end compressors (expect racks) do the same to a small degree. You can't hear/appreciate this until you turn your amp up loud. The hiss is actually much less than the standard fender single coil hiss you get, so it's not bad at all. Overall, it's a great pedal and dramatically improves the tone and playability of the guitar. The playability increases because the pedal isolates the tone you want, thus holds notes for longer. Also, it's great for solos since all the notes have a dramatic boost, but with a much smoother tone. That means some dynamics are lost, but it is still obtainable with pick attack. It is a great pedal and I'm yet to find a pedal that is significantly better than this. The only downside is that it's not "true-bypass". However, I have a long train of pedal connections with DiMarzio connectors and I haven't noticed a significant loss in tone. The only lost tone is the isolated sounds I wish not to hear. I recommend to try this out with someone who knows how to use it and you'll see it's great functionality.

There are better and more transparent compressors out there.. but this one can be modified to be more transparent quite easily. If you are good with a soldering gun and don't mind putting in some time on google, you can find the popular mod. It lets more bass come through, making it work well for bass players too, and also stays more true to the original tone.. If I remember correctly, it's only a matter of soldering 9 parts. Easy.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
