wow , what a deal I got at L&M Nanaimo this Epiphone is very awesome to play, it's one of my main guitar of choice right now. it's a fraction of price of a Gibson 335 and to myself it's just as good|, i got the cherry red axe and a hard case and I'm as happy as a clam, thank you Epiphone for putting out great guitars at great prices. I will be buying more soon

Bought a used cherry Epi Dot for my son and he decided Banjo is his thing. Not knowing much about guitars I took lessons. So this review is from the point of view of an old Dad who struggles with learning new tricks, but then again there’s plenty of beginners who start with an Epiphone. First off I didn’t want to sell this guitar as it’s aesthetically pleasing and well crafted. I bought Marshall tube amp for it and I enjoy the sounds of the instrument immensely. It stays in tune and the action is low, which is great for a beginner. The knobs were cheap so I replaced them with Gibson top hats. The neck is thicker than a strat or an SG, but there’s lots of room to bend strings and make weird sounds. The frets are holding up without any appearance of wear and I’ve had it for 4 years. I haven’t played a Gibson ES 335 to compare the Epiphone Dot to. I have no urgent need to as I’m content with this guitar. My son can have his Foggy Mountain Break Down, I’m happy pretending I’m playing the blues.

I had played a number of Epi DOT's in stores over the years but the first time I played mine in the L&M show room it was 'the one'. (So you may need to try a few to get the right one.) It has taken me from being a mediocre player to now learning jazz in a little over a year. It is just a good day-in-day-out workhouse of an instrument. It can handle R&R, Blues, Jazz. I even hit it with Surf and it just produces.
The selector switch was making a lot of noise and the wire harness came loose inside but the techs a L&M Calgary East took care of it under warranty. I keep trying other semi-hollow and full hollows but have not found anything worth changing/upgrading for. (Yes a Gibson 335 is a nicer unit but that's a lot of $$) Maybe I am just so used to it now. Managed to get the action super jazz low with no ringing using flat wounds.
Only change I would make is swap the knobs out for black units and I will upgrade the neck pick-up in the coming year. (Probably a Fralin)

This is one of the best guitars I've ever had. The sound is extremely good. Two things I'm impressed by it is 1st is the weight. Its very light weight. Second I like that the two pickups have their own volume and tone This is a huge plus. And for the price is unbeatable.

I've got the 2017 model cherry red with Grover tuners, set mahogany neck, maple laminate body, etc. It's made in China, or ?hand-crafted? as the sticker on the headstock says, and for the first time I think ever, I can say that the manufacturer should take great pride in their product. I spent hours playing a plethora of competing hollow and semi-hollow guitars before settling on the least expensive one. Maybe I got lucky, but this cherry was so sweet straight off the shelf. I was told it wasn't set-up by anyone in store, so I have to attest that the factory got it right. Pull the trigger and buy this thing. No regrets - guaranteed.

With a decent rig this can be a honey of a guitar. I used an old US Blues Jr. and a Jekyll Hyde pedal with my 90s LP Standard for years, but I showed up at rehearsal recently with my Dot and everybody (including myself) realized just how fantastic it truly sounds (and versatile) at any volume, and now I have to come up with a half-dozen BB King, Freddie King, etc. numbers.. ARG!!! my only caveat is I think the pickup selector seems a bit cheap and would be the first part that breaks. I might have to make a pre-emptive strike and just upgrade the entire wiring and sub in a pair of Gibson take-off hunbuckers. But in the meantime if works fine and makes a great backup guitar tor gigs.

After playing a few different Epiphone guitars and being disappointed, I was pleasantly surprised by this guitar. The classic look and sound of a '59 es-355 with a reasonable price tag. This thing plays great!! The build quality is very impressive, and there seems to be a lot of attention to detail that I didn't find with many other Epiphone guitars. Cherry red hot-rod, I can't take my eyes or hands off it without feeling separation anxiety!!!

Picked a cherry Epi Dot 335 from three that were available in the Kanata store. Great sound and playability, nice neck. This is the best instrument going in the Epiphone lineup, fit and finish are very good quality. Thanks to Kurt who made some adjustments to truss rods/action while I tried all three -- good customer service and attention. I set pickup height on open strings at pole pieces, low and high E (1/8" bridge, 3/32" neck) and this guitar came to life.

I was lucky enough to buy mine at wholesale cost, much below retail, but even at full retail, this plays like a $1000 plus guitar. the sound and feel is killer. Great guitar for all styles. I use it for funk / blues/ rock. My only complaint is similar to other people. This guitar needs to be set up properly out of the box. Mine had intonation issues, but still very playable. Take it to a guitar tech and have them set it up properly (neck, intonation, string height, etc.) This guitar makes my USA Strat sound weak, thin and brittle. This ES335 sounds fat, punchy, warm and full. No doubt due to the double humbuckers. GREAT GUITAR!. You won't be disapointed

After being a Strat enthusiast for years this guitar made a refreshing change. The semi-acoustic design and humbucker pick- ups make it sound quite different. A good set up makes it both sound its best and easy to play. Some music sounds right on the Strat and some on the Dot, and I find myself improvising differently on the two guitars. The neck continues through he body which reduces the chance of a feedback wail compared with an electrified acoustic guitar. Yes its large and heavy, but the sound and good experience playing it far out weigh those concerns. Excellent value for the money.

I bought this guitar based on all the positive reviews about it and I'm definitely not disappointed. I absolutely love it! From the beautiful finish and quality to the great sound and playability, this guitar is absolutely fantastic. Especially for the price!
My only grip is that when I went in and expressed my interest in purchasing a Dot, I was never offered to try it out. They were kind enough to hold the guitar for me a few days until I purchased it. So all in all I'm a happy customer.

I rented this guitar first for a couple months, then financed it because it was playing well and I enjoyed it.
However, after just over a year, the input jack decided that it's not gonna stay in the guitar and instead will drop in to take a vacation inside the body.
I have gigged with this guitar less than a dozen times and I rest it comfortably back in its case when I'm done (I'm going out of my way to treat this guitar well since I beat up a few in my teenage years and regretted it later). When I practice with it, it's often not even plugged in.
So I'm quite disappointed. Last time, a few months ago, we managed to get a different nut and tighten it back up, but I picked up the guitar today, went to plug in a cable and... oh look, it's loose and rattling again, threatening to come off entirely.
I loved my Dot for a little over a year, but lately I'm just frustrated with it. And I'm 99% sure this is my last Epiphone guitar.

Bought this guitar used, and even after having been played for years before i even set my eyes on it, it played and felt better than alot of new guitars i tried... for the price L&M has it for i highly recommend buying this guitar if youre on the market for a rhythm machine... would perhaps not reccomend it as a guitar for a lead guitarist, its a bit too beefy for that role, but if youre a rhythm guitarist like i can think of few better guitars.

I had one these and sadly traded it off for a tele. Loved the tele but missed the dot so i bought another one. Beautiful guitar. I also had an issue with the pup switch and replaced it with a switchmaster. Once i got it set up to my liking it stays in tune and plays like a charm. Sounds great for blues and the sustain is awesome.

My couch guitar now (even over Custom Shop Strat & Martin). Rarely plugged in, so can't comment much on pups. For me, a perfect blend: audible but less volume than acoustic with awesome playability. Not as "loose" as Strat, more "beefy". Great value - compared to Ibanez Artcore (unfortunately not great) and Hagstrom Viking (not as good value). Recommended.

Wonderfully versatile, great sound. The neck is fast and comfortable, the tone is great, and the sustain goes on forever if you want it to. I've used it for rock, blues, jazz, you name it. The Dot has great response either smooth or driven. It can be a bit heavy on a long set, so get yourself a wide padded strap. Once it's in your hands, you won't want to put it down.

I use this guitar for everything from country to punk, from blues to metal. Has a great tone and killer sustain. Great for mixing with a pedal board and fun to add some effects to it. Only draw back(2) I found was 1) the weight, can get a little tiresome lugging this guy around the stage for long sets and especially if you're used to a Les Paul 2) the intonation, took me a bit to get it set up just where I wanted it but after I teamed it with some Gibson Vintage Re-Issued strings and got the set up right, it wails!

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty
A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.
Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.
How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.
Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.
Purchasing additional years of coverage
Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.
If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:
NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
