The "Modern C"-shaped neck sports a 9.5"-radius fingerboard that's comfortable for almost any playing style, along with 20 jumbo frets, allowing you to easily express yourself musically.

I’ve had this bass 3 years now. After some initial tweaks it’s been super reliable as my main bass live, on the road, and in studio. I have to join the consensus of other reviews that at this price point (nearly $2000 CAD) it should come with: 1. dressed fret ends (they were a mess!) 2. a better case (either a basic hardshell or useable gig bag) and 3. a split/humbucking/noiseless bridge pickup I couldn’t get my preferred action with the stock bridge even though I can with my other fender stock bridges. That was weird. I added the fender hi-mass to drop lower. I didn’t really need the sustain because I play and like quick decay (flats, left or right hand muting, sometimes foam) but when I want sustain it’s available! I disagree that the J pickup is truly useable, certainly not alone. Some noise and a gain drop are to be expected in a PJ setup where the J is just a normal single coil. This bridge J is especially weak compared to my other PJ’s. That said, I do not like Fender’s stacked noiseless humbuckers. I far prefer DiMarzio’s split single J. If I make any further changes to this bass I would consider dropping in the Aguilar PJ set that has a split single J. Folks are right, the Yosemite P is not exactly a classic P sound but close enough. Thundering and completely useable. Summary: overpriced out of the box. After necessary clean-up and tweaks for my preferences, I would never sell this bass. Live and learn.

First impression, solid bass with great sound. The low depth is here, which is missing in Indonesian models. PJ variations in tone are great. Small disappointment in body to neck fit, the side body part stick out under the neck 2.4mm. Fret ends are sharp and need a fretwork. Was expecting little better finish for American made instrument.

First the upside: nice looking bass, not too heavy, well balanced, somewhat nice vintage bridge. The downside: not a high mass bridge given the price point. Fret edges are sharp and protruding. Quality control was on vacation with this model. think about it, Coming in at roughly $1900 with taxes with no Hard shell case (BTW the deluxe gig bag is a joke) and having to get the fret ends dressed is unacceptable. The Yosemite pick ups does not sound like a P bass. Bridge pick is week and lacking definition. My made in Japan Geddy Lee Jazz bass blows this bass out of the water as far as quality in concerned. Should have bought the Yamaha TRBX604 instead and save some money. Better sound, better quality.

Picked one of these satin blue p basses up a couple mouths back. I'm loving how it has a light kinda funky feel to it, and they finally put the jack in the right spot. I think the satin finish they're using is the coolest looking finish ever... I picked it over the american pro. Ya I've been having a good time with this bass.

The neck and body as good as any custom shop bass. American jazz Pick ups and electronics. I love this Guitar. Bought it for it's exceptional live sound but now use it in the studio. I will never sell this bass. Took away 1 star for lack of the fender high mass bridge which I added myself and advise others to Mod as well as it really makes a world of difference not only to sustain and tone , but I feel playability is enhanced as well.

I have bought this bass for live performance and have recently began to use it for studio recording. I am an accomplished musician with a flair for Geddy type complex bass lines. I am very impressed with the recording quality, and playability. I did swap out the stock bridge for a fender high mass which completed my ultra low action set up. This was the only thing missing and why I gave it a 4 rather than a 5 for features. I will never sell this guitar.

Had this for a month now, amazing tone (sounds like a bass should sound with very little effort, and optional sounds if required). This is a high quality, light weight bass, setup almost perfect from the get go (dropped the string height 1/2 turn on each string for my preference). Had three other Fenders in the past (and currently have a Stingray HH), and this will now be my # 1 bass for life. Only wish it came with hard shell case!

As a kid starting out, I always thought I would own a Fender, and now 43 years later I finally do. I bought this bass to replace a Schecter Omen Extreme 4 that I had. The Schecter was great but as I also have had a Squier Jazz Bass for a number of years, I find the new Fender Precision so much easier to play. The satin finish maple neck is fast and comfortable and best of all, familiar. The two pickup design was a big selling point. The jazz bass bridge pickup gives you that biting growl that they are known for but the P-bass pickup gives you that classic Fender tone that most everyone loves. The build quality is great and I personally like that this is a passive bass instead of active electronics. It’s just so much easier. My only minor beef was that although it did come with a gig bag, I kind of thought for the price that a hardshell case would have been included, but I will order one for an additional cost. I have tried several Fenders over the year and never been that impressed enough to make the jump but this particular bass ticked all the boxes and I’m looking forward to playing it for many years.

I bought this bass to replace my Sterling Ray35 (even though this is a 4-string). The playability is off the charts! The satin maple neck looks as good as it plays. Fast and easy to cover. The PJ pups give you a ton of tonal versatility. The Lake Placid satin blue is stunning and the weight is very reasonable. Love this bass!

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
