The Corona, CA.-crafted American Performer Telecaster Hum combines exceptional Fender humbucking tone and authentic feel with new tone technologies and player-oriented features designed to inspire while propelling your playing to new heights.

The American Performer Telecaster Hum includes the Yosemite(TM) single-coil bridge pickup - designed for rich, expressive tone - and a wax-potted DoubleTap(TM) humbucking neck pickup, which is controlled by a push/pull tone pot. This unique, patent-applied-for design combines humbucking and single-coil voices, while eliminating volume loss in single-coil mode. With flat-staggered pole pieces to increase output and shellac potting that let them breathe while controlling feedback, Yosemite single-coil pickups produce dynamic sounds ideal for any musical situation.

The American Performer Telecaster Hum also features Greasebucket(TM) tone circuitry to shape the highs without adding bass, preserving your sound. The "Modern C"-shaped neck sports a 9.5"-radius fingerboard that's comfortable for almost any playing style, along with 22 jumbo frets for effortless and accurate bending.

I totally agree with the other two reviewers on this page.
Some reviews on youtube etc dislike the Tele -Humbucker configuration presented here as they say the two pickups are so dissimilar that they shouldn't be combined on one instrument.
To me, it seems these ones(maybe) haven't spent enough time experimenting , especially with the push/pull option.
For me , the instrument is one of the most comfortable and versatile.
I have the Aubergine(more like a deep burgundy with sparkles) and the neck size and slightly larger frets suit my small hand size perfectly.
The tones you'll get on this instrument are very diverse but still within the vintage Tele bracket.
The neck humbucker mixed in the with the bridge p'up gives a superb jazz tone, very rich, if Ed Bickert or Ted Greene was your hero.
PERFECT for Blues. You'll get a very retro Blues snarl as well if you add some overdrive. Albert Collins or early Johnny Watson comes to mind.
To me, it's the best by far, Telecaster designed today although the price has gone up several hundred dollars since I got mine around 2 yrs back.

Bought this last year at the location in Victoria. Thought I was going in to buy a Stratocaster, left with the Telecaster. This guitar feels far more comfortable to play than the Strat. Sounds amazing, and has a wide range of music that can be played on it. Everything from the blues to country, this guitar can handle it all. Neck is super smooth and comfy to transition from fret to fret. The option of single coil and the humbucker pickup gives a wide range of tone and clarity for amp output. Could not endorse this amazing instrument anymore.

I started playing guitar a couple of months ago, wanted to buy good guitar because I have been really enjoying it. My guitar teacher recommended a telecaster, I tried out a couple and then did some research on them. Bought this one from Waterloo location and this guitar was a really good decision, I have no regrets in buying it. It's comfortable, light and sounds awesome even for a rookie guitarist. Highly recommend buying one if you are thinking about. Tyler at the Waterloo location was great to deal with and very helpful.

This Tele is incredible. It's a bit lighter than your usual US Telecaster. The neck feels smooth and fast. The tones are absolutely spot on. The coil split is excellent and there is hardly zero difference in volume from the humbucker to the single coil. Normally the difference is noticeable as the single coil is way quieter. But not with this guitar. The bridge pickup is on fire! I love it. Can't say enough good things about this instrument. If you had to nitpick this guy you could say they cheaped out a little by putting vintage tuners on it and the volume and tone knobs don't have much resistance to them (they spin really easy) but honestly who cares? It sounds and plays amazing. You can always swap out tuners and knobs for less than 125 bucks.

I was actually on the hunt for a Les Paul, but ended up with that beautiful USA Fender Telecaster. It is my first USA made Fender and my first Tele, not sure how I got from the Les Pauls to the Tele, but I'm so glad I took this one home. I also very much liked the Performer Strat, but I wanted a fixed bridge guitar. The quality is just impeccable, the neck feels comfortable and very smooth, the fretwork is perfect and so is the finish. And it sounds great, twangy on the bridge and super smooth and warm on the neck pickup. Pull the coil split and there is the twang single sound at the neck - et voila, my country chops sound a little more authentic now. Great instrument, great price - thanks Fender and Michelle at LM. Couldn't be happier. Only, the gig bag is not that great, and I'll get a nice hard case for this wonderful instrument.

This guitar is amazing in every way. I've always been a fan of the early days when Fender were using car paint colors from the 50's which is why I fell in love with the surf green version. The tone and playability is second to none. I have played a few Tele's over the past 30 years and never found one that I loved, that's no longer the case. It really has something special in the feel, kinda like a really old guitar. You have to try one and see for yourself.

I recently purchased this guitar and I'm in love with it. All the quality and tone that Fender USA is known for. The splittable humbucker gives you a ton of tonal options while retaining that true telecaster sound. If you play a telecaster, it should sound like a telecaster and it does. The 22 jumbo frets are nice and smooth, the satin finish on the neck is a bit fragile, bumped it with my watch and already scratched it a bit but nothing that will keep me from playing this amazing guitar. I'm having a hard time putting her down. The only downside is the gig bag, it's ok but I would have paid a little more to have one that's a little more padded. ( I ended up buying a hardshell case for it). Go try one at your local L&M, I'm sure you will love it just as much as I do.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
