Bought this guitar 18 months ago. First, love the color of sonic blue with the rosewood fret board. Contrast is beautiful. Teles are just so simply beautiful. Looks beautiful Sounds beautiful Plays easy with great action. Fell in love when I bought it and still love it today. Really love the look and sound. Worth the investment

Deciding between this and the Player tele which is cheaper, I decided to go for the Performer as it is just what it is - a straight up telecaster with no bells, no whistles. If you already have other modern guitars and are just looking to fill the telecaster position, this is a no brainer. Finish looks awesome. Setup is solid, intonation perfect but as always i will get it set up after a few months. I would note this is the thinner, modern Fender neck which may be too small for some. Tone and volume sweeps feel really smooth and useable all the way across both knobs. Clean sounds are awesome and true to the telecaster sound. One cool thing about the pickups is the bridge pickup, at least on the one i got works magic with overdrive and even heavy distortion. My pet peeve about these is the vintage style bridge which only allows you to adjust string intonation in pairs but again, thats true to the classic tele look and feel.

Overall a one score because you don't expect a performer guitar to all of a sudden stop performing. The neck pickup suddenly stopped functioning for some reason. Wires seem tight. Have no idea took it back to store for a refund. At same time in store, there was a professional II in for the same reason except it was the bridge pickup. Is Fender trying to tell us something?

I bought this guitar in a bit of a whim. The Honeyburst finish was that striking and I'm a fan of rosewood fretboards and jumbo frets. Upon bringing the guitar out of the gig bag, I noticed a few things:
1.) The Honeyburst finish is absolutely stunning. Just as good as it looks pictuered.
2.) The rosewood fretboard was in dire need of moisture. Unbelievably dry. Nothing some fretboard conditioner couldn't fix, but found that a bit disappointing because my Japanese Gretsch's rosewood fretboard was perfect upon arrival.
3.) The fretwork was very well done. No sharp edges and appears to be level. The neck is a fairly thin profile depth wise, but somewhat wide in width. Feels good to me, but I have large hands. If you have smaller hands, the neck might not work out.
4.) Overall build quality was what I expected. Neck surface was nice and smooth, fretboard edges are rounded slightly, as stated before no pointy fret ends
Once I got to test it above bedroom volumes, I found the Yosemite pickups to be fantastic. Low 60 cycle hum for single coils. The bridge pickup is bright, but not excessively. It's quite nice even with the tone knob at max. The middle combination is spanky. The neck pickup is much more balanced than the bridge. Still treble focussed, but with a nice amount of low frequency. It isn't muddy or bassy like lower quality neck pickups.
I find the Greasebucket tone knob circuit very refreshing. The whole range of the tone control is very palatable and useful, unlike typical tone controls. No bassy, flubby tones at 1-4/10. It lives up to the hype for me and compliments the telecaster's sound, which is looking to retain clarity and not sacrifice it.
The ClassicGear tuners are phenomenal. Very smooth adjustment, and work very well. A pleasant surprise that's adds a touch of quality.
If you can afford the 1780$ price tag, it's a quality instrument. I think it deserves to come with a hard case, instead of the gig bag. This feels like a cheap out on fenders part and feels unjust for an 1780$ instrument.

This says its a buttercream however this is not the same yellow in person. If you take the buttercream strat and put it next to this one, the Tele is significantly less yellow. this is very deceiving

Arrived in good shape. Needed a setup (a few things tweaked and tightened as they all do), bigger strings and some linseed oil on the fret board. I won’t take points off though because the guitar itself (and I’m talking the important stuff), is amazing! The fit and finish overall was perfect! Nice tight neck pocket, flawless satin sonic blue paint job and it plays like butter once dialed in! The Yosemite pickups have a vintage voicing that I like and take overdrive extremely well. IMO it sounds more like an older Tele. It carries many vintage-esque appointments while taking on a few of the most important modern feature changes that have occurred over the years. I was a little apprehensive going in as I passed up a used 2020 American professional at 150$ less to get this. I thought what the heck? I’ve already got an American std Strat and I know what they’re all about, so I took a chance on this model and was NOT disappointed! I think this one’s bound to become a classic!

The guitar arrived 90% in tune. Legendary. The neck is easy to play and the pickups are great. However I had to tighten the washers on the tuning peg and epoxy in the plastic selector switch that just kept falling off. I bought a hs case to protect it and intend to play if for years. But a little more final quality control was needed.

This guitar is amazing. It's really geared for somebody looking for an American made Fender, and who doesn't care about limited editions or collectability, bells and whistles (like hard cases or certificates of authenticity) Pros: It has the best neck on a guitar I've ever played. It's extremely comfortable. The brass saddles give it a vintage feel as well. The pickups are some of the best I've played. The Greasebucket tone control is amazing and you can use it to dial in many useful tones. The 70's headstock is also cool. Cons: Price. It is expensive but on par with Gibson Tribute Series guitars so it's priced accurately. The gig bag is ok but not as nice as the Gibson Soft Shell, but it's not a deal breaker by any means. It's a poly finish where the Gibson tributes have a nitro, if you care about finish. The poly looks great to me.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
