Having read endless reviews of clip-on tuners breaking or falling apart, never mind lost, I was loathe to replace the old Steinberger one I'd left at a party and never seen again.
So I figured the cheaper the better, so it can be treated as a throw-away item. Sure the $76 "famous brand name" unit is more accurate. But what if you break it or lose it?
I do a "tight" tuning using my old Boss TU-12 (40 years old and counting) and use this on during sets just to make sure nothing has gone out-of-whack and it's almost perfect for that. It picks up all the strings, including the notorious low-B on my 5- strings immediately, flatwound or roundwound.
I only have two minor complaints, sometimes it locks onto the frequency wrong. (Maybe one time in 5). Just wait until it unlocks and try again. It also sometimes won't track as you adjust the string. Wait until it unlocks and try again.
I just did a 4-show run of Jesus Christ Superstar and this thing was my ace-in-the whole.
For $13 you can't lose, just don't expect perfection. It's fast, and it's actually surprisingly accurate. If you need to quickly check your tuning with the volume rolled down no one can hear you in the house.
Haven't checked it out on guitar, but it's great on bass. And it's Long and Mcquade, so if you think it sucks, return it, but I betcha won't. Not sure why there is a bad review, perhaps they've recently upgraded the processor? It picked up super-fast for me.
The pick holder is a bit superfluous, but I kept it clipped on my solid music stand and used it for that when not checking my tuning.
Did I mention that it only costs $13?? Let me mention it again. It only costs $13.

This is a terrible tuner. Thought that buying a tuner with the Snark name was a guarantee of a good product. Readings take so long to come up and then disappear immediately and sometimes no reading at all. High E string almost never gives a reading. Do not buy.

This tuner works great! I own one and as the person above mentioned, it will loosen up after a bit, however, if you take a look theirs a little screw that is easily tightened - back to normal. Don't worry about spending the money on a "more expensive" one as this does the job and for a good price.

Has a great display. Easy to read and changes light color from amber to green when tuning.
