I made a review of this product on October 6th. The main issue was the adjustment handle breaking down. After a couple of emails back and forth with a Hercules rep., I was put in contact with the Canadian warranty claim third party. The lady was very nice and no questions asked sent me a brand new replacement stand. The stand has a whole new adjustment handle that looks way more sturdy and made out of proper material. It's still plastic but it looks and feels much stronger and long lasting. Now I can rate the product to it's full potential. Definitely above 4 stars.

The handle mechanism that locks the upper and lower bar is made of terrible plastic material that broke easily and turned into sticky goo. Really too bad because the rest of the parts on the stand are built well. The stand was used for a year then put in storage for 5. When I took it out, the handle had broken down and self destructed when I tried to use it. It was never outside or in the sun. I contacted Hercules, the warranty only applies to US customers. Not just that but they require the original receipt and parts are unavailable. Avoid this product at all costs !

Like all Hercules stands it's solid and built well. I've had mine 6 plus years, no sticky parts and it's still holding strong. Originally I actually bought this one by mistake the boxes all look a like and I thought I was buying a GS412B PLUS model for one of my King V guitars. I brought it back after I realized my mistake but there were none in stock so I stuck with it. It holds my acoustic, Stratocasters and Telecaster perfectly no complaints or any of the other issues other reviews are mentioning.

Overall the stand has worked okay, but after about two years the soft touch coating on the latch mechanism turned to a sticky goo that was difficult to remove. Got it so it’s usable but it’s still unpleasant to operate if you have to. For this price I wouldn’t buy it again.

I am not alone! Trigger to adjust height first becomes sticky then breaks. Quality is even worse than MIC. Will never buy Hercules guitar stand. Wate of money.

Like others mine broke as well. I am online right now looking to buy a new one. I figure 60 bucks and I have had it for 10-15 years. It’s a pretty good products.

I have owned this stand for about 5 years. The other day I went to move the stand and while I had it in my hand, several feet above the floor, the cam lock grip disintegrated into a sticky mess, dropping my Ovation to the floor. Needless to say I contacted Hercules to get some help with their clearly faulty stand and they basically told me to purchase a new one. Avoid like the plague. Terrible customer service to a known problem they do nothing about. This company is right up there with Gator.

Like others, the Height Adjust trigger gets gooey, and then breaks. My Martin fell hard to the floor - luckily, there was no damage to the guitar.

I posted a negative review here earlier. This was concerning the ORIGINAL stand that I had. In fairness, I have to do another review. After a few emails to the company, they replace the original stand at no cost to me. The new stand (the one available now) is far superior to the original and I would definitely buy it now. Also, i have to commend the company on their excellent customer service. If you are looking for a quality stand, check this one out.

LIke a few other have mentioned, the height extender/trigger degraded and broke. It took a few years, so there's no way to get a refund. At least my guitar didn't get dropped, unlike a few others.

I had the same issue as a couple of other people here. Never used for gigs. It stayed in the house and the adjuster got stickier then the other day it just fell apart. I emailed the manufacturer twice about parts but they didn't write back. Don't waste your money on this one.

Couple years after owning this Hercules guitar stand, the clutch got sticky gooey, then unexpectedly failed awhile later dropping our daughters expensive guitar to the floor. Not happy and will be returning to Long and Mcquade for help.

Well-thought-out product with innovative features. Sturdy, but the rubber grip on the height adjustment becomes sticky over time, leaving a black gooey mess on your fingers. Mine eventually broke off! No word from the company...
