Buying a new instrument is an exciting event
and we want to ensure that every instrument we sell comes exactly how the manufacturer intended
it to be. That is why Long & McQuade performs a quality control check for every stringed, brass,
and woodwind instrument over $99 ordered online at Long-McQuade.com.
Our team of experienced staff will unbox your instrument and perform a detailed
inspection to ensure it leaves our warehouse looking and playing great with our QC card signed
and dated for your peace of mind.
We work hard to source the best instruments from around the world from the finest brands.
It is important to us that you are completely satisfied with your new instrument purchase from
day one onwards.
Unlike our free set-up, which is
included within the first year of purchase, this process is done to have the instrument set to the
factory specs rather than to each player's feel or preferences.
We look after the following:
Inspect finish and hardware.
Check electronics to make sure everything is in working order. Check batteries on active pickups.
Inspect strings.
Inspect frets and fretboard.
Check truss rod. Adjust for bow and relief.
Tune instrument to manufacturer's specified tuning.
Check/set action height.
Stretch strings and re-tune instrument and ensure machine heads are working well.
No other bass looks like it or plays like it. The beloved Thunderbird bass from Epiphone features the reverse body styling, carved top and dual bass TB Humbucking pickups complimented with black hardware and the Thunderbird insignia on the pickguard.

Bought this as a backup when I was having issues with my SR500. Silky bottom end and usable highs. Decent hardware and stays in tune. Heavy beast so strap locks are a must. Surprisingly well balanced with no neck dive. Absolutely recommend you try one out.

Run through a small Fender Rumble 40 this guitar has pretty highs and rumbly lows with little fret rasp,, till you want it. Guitar came surprisingly well set up for string height and tuneing. The cosmetics have unfortunately changed thou. High gloss body/ neck makes it "sticky-ish" and headstock now unbeveled and look like they just gave up trying.

This bass plays, and sounds fantastic. Looks great, too. Only weak points are that the nut needs some work, a bit high, but L&M can fix that with your free set up. Also, the jack is low quality, partly plastic for some reason. Feels too tight, like I might rip it out taking the cable out, but is also a cheap fix. I traded in a Squier CV P bass for this, and the quality is night and day. Best bass for the money, in my opinion. Can't go wrong.

This bass puts out great tones, very varied sounds depending on your technique and position. Great sustain. The adjustable bridge makes it easy to tweak your action (low action rasp is amazing) and makes replacing strings a breeze. This bass takes well to dirty and clean tones. One of the best buys I've made in years.

If you turn up everything on board, it has a naturally fairly bright tone, making it good for most styles of rock bass playing. When you turn down the tone and bridge volume though, that's when you realize the versatility of this instrument. It can go from very bright funky slap bass, to warm thick concert bass without any problems.
I own a fair amount of basses, and was just looking for a cheap one to add to my collection, but the sound off of this, as well as the very dynamic tone range rivals and surpasses some of my basses worth $200-300 more than this.
I went in with about no expectations, and Epiphone has blown me away. Can't wait to try to get my hands on the full Gibson version of this.
Overall: great tone range, amazing value, this guitar should be selling for a lot more than $350.

I play guitar and piano for several years now. I started to get interested in trying to get a Bass and learn it, I found this Thunderbird. I have Gibson Firebird VII and Epiphone Firebird Studio electric Guitars, so the Thunderbird shape is my favorite. Beside that, it has a thunderous sound, tuning is stable. I am happy to have this Bass. No regret.

Bought this lovely bass last year, thought I'd review it after having played it for a while. This is my first bass guitar but I did my research and like 95% of reviews and videos said that this bass was the best you can get for your money, I totally agree. I'm 5'm and a girl, at first I found it to be too heavy but I got use to it after a while. Make sure you pair it up with a great amp to get the most out of it I can tell if I had a better amp it would sound alot better. It's great for live performances, really stands out.

It's a great bass with very unique tone. The strings hardly buzz at all which is rare in a bass and it holds it's tuning even in very low tunings. But it it is very top heavy which requires extra effort to play standing up and for some reason it is very difficult to slap on it. But besides that, it's a great bass.

I have my Thunderbird for about a year now and it flat out rocks! I play stuff from classic rock like Tom Petty to harder stuff like SOAD, Metallica, etc. The Thunderbird handles it all well, providing a bright, crisp thunderous tone.
This beast has become my main bass and I prefer it to other, more expensive basses I have owned in the past. This thing is a great bang for your buck and I am giving thought to buying a second one.
A word to the wise though, when you get one, move the top strap button to behind the neck like a full on Gibson Thunderbird and it won't dive as bad on you.

I just bought this about half a year ago, (I've been playing now for over 4 years) and I must say, this bass delivers everything any bassist needs when it comes to quality and value. The pickups work wonders, and I haven't had any problems with it so far. Great bass, I would suggest any bassist wanting to get serious with the instrument buy this as a starting bass. Treat it with care and you will have a very good bass for a long time to come.

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty
A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.
Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.
How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.
Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.
Purchasing additional years of coverage
Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.
If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:
NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
