As meticulous as you
The newly developed HD 300 PRO delivers a neutral, high-resolution working sound. Its huge depth of detail passes through even in the loudest of environments. Irrespective of whether you are editing, playing or composing music, and regardless of whether you're behind a drum kit, at the mixing desk, in a live setting or in the studio, the HD 300 PRO provides the details that you need for making good decisions.
HD 300 PRO. Keep control.
Measuring the truth
The HD 300 PRO works at the same level of precision that you apply to your production. To make this possible, we have pushed its acoustic properties to the boundaries of physics and recalculated them. Firstly, it's linear frequency response. It doesn't interpret, but rather ensures neutral transparency - the basis for good decisions. Its sound pattern remains delicate and precise in every application - across the entire spectrum.
Secondly, distortion, wobbling motions and partial vibrations of the diaphragm have been reduced to a minimum. Together with highly sensitive transducers, this construction guarantees powerful and distortion-free reproduction even at high sound pressure levels. Not to mention the recalculated air volumes in front of the ear. The HD 300 PRO gives the sound a remarkably natural, three-dimensional quality.
Only the sound carries weight.
The design of the HD 300 PRO represents a smart combination of wearing comfort and ambient noise attenuation. Its circumaural, viscoelastic earpads can barely be felt even after several hours. And they provide reliable protection even against very loud ambient noise. To achieve this, we have designed the acoustic unit to be more isolated than a monitoring set has ever been. Even after sessions lasting several hours, you will detect only its sound - not its weight.

I just bought these pair of headphones, and my initial impressions is that they are great for vocals. Paired with a matched pair of Rode NT1A’s into a Scarlett 2i2, vocal nuance pick-up and reproduction is great. Breathy techniques come through nicely. Multi-layer mix gets played back nicely with above average positioning and mix panning reproduction.
In pure music play back, they do sound bass anemic compared to mainstream headphones from Sony and Apple. Surprisingly, the 300 pro’s complement Apple Music streaming service’s music tuning, accentuating detail retrieval.
The only caveats that I can think about these pair of headphones are the proprietary cable connection. Coming from ATH-M40, the added cable options (coiled, straight, and different lengths) will be missed.
Overall, they do do their job as studio monitors but not as a pleasurable music listening experience.

Excellent for studio work and guitar practice. Precise sound. Cable too short. 4 of 4 customers found this review helpful

I own several pairs of Sennheiser, and here again you'll find a very well built, great sounding pair of headsets. These are excellent for studio work where you want a nice, flat, precise, clear sound and frequency response/seperation. Lots of details I couldn't hear with other headsets actually more expensive. For guitar practice, I use this plugged into a Boss GT-100, and the fact I get a precise sound reproduction of the patches I build means I can then play with my band using the GT-100 straight into a full size commercial mixer and PA system and find a very close reproduction compared to the headphones. These are not meant for the bass fans, but those who want to pick the fine details in their music. Yes indeed there are much better studio headphones out there, but these perform admirably well for the price, and I know they will last. Only gripe is that the cable is way to short for instrument practice, so I had to buy a 3.5mm female to 1/4" male 6 foot extension cable. Disappointing. My previous Sennheiser studio headsets had a 9 foot cable... Other than that, very happy with these, and they are quite comfortable for hours of playing.
