The Journey of Hope was written as a commission for the Jacksonville Children's Chorus. I was asked to write a piece that would celebrate the possibility of moving towards a better future, inspired by the desire and need to join together as a community in Jacksonville, Florida. Often when we look around and wonder how young people can grow into responsible, caring people in the face of so much adversity, music, and hope become more essential than we can all imagine. We all can unite if we collectively join in a Journey of Hope. - Jim Papulous

The Journey of Hope is scored for SSAB voices, with the baritone part written so that it is appropriate for changing male voices. Accompaniment parts are provided for piano, djembe, cabasa, and bass guitar. The title gives a clue to the focus of the text: a forward-looking view of what we can accomplish together through hope and unity. This inspiring text and infectious rhythms make this a must-have piece for young singers.
