I have owned this delay for a couple of years now, and not once have I been displeased with this unit. For anyone who uses long delay times, this compact digital delay offers more than enough delay time for any experimental guitarist. The looper effect is great for practicing, and the analog, modulate, and reverse effects are a nice addition as well. This pedal is a good pedal for those new to delay, and good for any experienced delay users. Has never left my pedalboard once.

The DD7 from Boss is a great pedal for standard delays. That being said, it's not overly specific, as with some brands. For the actual size of the pedal, "a large variety of delays", is exagerrating. It's a great beginner pedal and worth the price for moderate quality effects.

Had a Line 6 DL6(the green thing) and I found there was a volume drop when turned on. Very slight but got annoying enough that I exchanged it for DD7 within a few weeks. I was familiar with BOSS years ago as I used to be a BOSS addict. I do find the tone a tad thin and cold unlike the original purple DM2 I had years ago. A setting called Analog is on the DD7 and models the older unit quite well but not as warm. I am wowed by the Modulation, Reverse and Hold settings. Very usable. Just wish the standard delay settings could be just on one setting, not four then the delay setting knob could represent the delay 50ms up to 3200ms. Its hard to see the individual delay groups as they are above the knob.

Almost went for the Line 6 DL4 with tons of settings but that sounded a bit thin. I had a Boss DD3 before a long time ago and the range of settings on this one is mind blowing. I bought this for the looping and reverse settings and its pretty impressive and as usual built like a tank. Get an adaptor though because same as older units batteries don't last very long.

Like a typical BOSS pedal, this thing is built like a tank (thus the 5* rating). But what really suprised me were all of the different modes. In addition to the typical digital delay modes, the DD-7 has a chorus-like modulation setting, an analog setting, a reverse delay and even a 40 second looper in the hold mode. It also features a tap-tempo and the ability to use a footswitch or an expression pedal. That's a lot of features, all of which are useful. The only thing that's missing is the ability to use both the modulation and the other delay settings (which is why features gets a 4 1/2* rating), but that's very much a sideproduct of having as many features as it does. I would recomend this fully to anyone looking for a delay unit.

I love this pedal! I've been using it for about a year or so now and its been to every show I've played. The delays sound really nice and full and dont lose quality as they fade. The Analog setting handles drive/distortions really well and its great for filling in your sound. The looper was a nice touch too. Great for making a drum track with an acoustic guitar. Its built like a tank too. Its an overall great pedal! If you buy this pedal you should probobly buy an FS-5U for tap tempo purposes. It just makes life alot easier. Cheers!

Delay is my absolute favorite effect. I am always trying to find ways to incorporate delay into my playing whether it is harsh digital repeats to subtle analog color. The DD7 gives me all of that right out of the gate. The sound is so nice and so warm compared to others I have tried. I have used the DL4 and I am not a fan as it sounds thin for my taste. Its also massive and Line 6 has issues figuring out how to get their products on a standard 9V/18V DC system. I find that Line 6 products also tend to loose their quality when used in an amps FX loop. I cannot say the same for the DD7, it sounds just amazing in my FX loop. I am actually looking at adding a second DD7 to my board one for digital delays at my prefered setting for lead licks and one for Analog repeats on rhythm playing when I need an added dimension or color. For a Boss pedal $179.00 is rather steep but i can swallow that when I actually begin playing with it. Great box and definitly worth a look at when looking for a delay pedal.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
