POWER SOAK PS1 Passive 100-Watt Power Attenuator for Guitar and Bass Amplifiers with Emulated Mic Output

The PS1 POWER SOAK is the answer for tone-craving guitarists everywhere, letting you drive the output tubes of your amp hard enough to squeeze out every drop of tone at any volume. The PS1 works with virtually any tube amp up to 100 Watts (4, 8 or 16 Ohms) and your favourite speaker cabinet, plus provides a Line output with dedicated level control and an Emulated Mic output to send your signal to the mixing console.

Dedicated Line Output
On PS1's rear panel you'll find a convenient Line output jack for connecting to an external power amplifier for running additional speaker cabinets, or to effects processing gear in professional applications such as the recording studio. The signal from the Line output does not have speaker/ mic emulation, but does feature its own dedicated Level control.

Built-In Direct Box
Now that you have your stage volume under control, you can stick a mic in front of your speaker or better yet, use PS1's built-in Emulated Mic Output to get all that great tone to the front of house (FOH) or recording console. This balanced XLR output mimics the sound captured by placing a microphone in front of your speaker without the need for any additional gear.

Features

• Passive 100-Watt Power Attenuator allows you to get the ultimate overdriven tone at any volume
• Multi-impedance input connectors (4, 8 and 16 Ohms) to match virtually any amplifier
• Line output with dedicated Level control
• Emulated Mic Output mimics a microphone in front of a speaker cabinet
• 3-Year Warranty Program*
• Designed and engineered in Germany

I want to play my EVH 50w in my home without my neighbours hating me. This works perfectly. Construction is very solid. I personally like the notching on the main output knob. I’m a tone freak and this doesn’t mess with the tone at all. I’ve never used the line out, so I don’t have an opinion. Even if it sucks, no one should be buying an attenuator because it has a line out. It’s an additional option, at an already very low price point. I would absolutely recommend this unit, after three months of very regular use

I bought 2 of these to compliment my 2 universal audio ox units. the difference in volume is pretty extreme on the OX, so i needed something to allow me to dial in a volume that actually works in a small room that isnt a recording studio. i haven't tried the recording output, but the power soak doesn't change my tone out of the amp at all. its great. the build quality feels iffy, and the knob has this metal on metal dragging feel on both units that I own, but im about to order a 3rd for yet another amp. worth your money. and i really try to avoid behringer....

Bought this as a cheap alternative to the other much more expensive attenuators out there. Use to get so hot that you couldn’t even touch it for about 10 minutes after using. Worked well for a while then started cutting out and then just didn’t work at all. Maybe 15 hours of use. I would save up for the better attenuator and not waste my money here. Also, when you plug it in, the output drops to about 50 watts (I have a 100w head) and you start working from there. Can’t get it back to the 100w without completely disconnecting. The line out sound is awful and unusable

I’ve had mine for a few weeks now. I can’t believe how great my amps sound opened up! I have a ‘66 Fender BandMaster, ‘79 Marshall JMP and a 70’s Traynor YBA-1A. They all have way too much power for bar gigs, but man, with the Attenuator it lets me get that sound I want at any volume. The Bugera is built really well, I have no doubt it will work forever. Now I need to get another one so I can A/B the BandMaster and JMP!

Just started using this with my 1974 Traynor YBA1 and Marshall 4x12 and absolutely love it. I can get full saturation on the head at practice volumes. With the dial at full it's still soaking 50% of power (as per documentation) so at practice I have to have it cranked to compete with the drums, but it's still at a good level. No tone change, as far as I can tell, though admittedly I've only ever heard my rig at full through a mic in an iso booth, because it's way too loud. I can't recommend this enough.
