I don't know why ppl are having problems splicing a cable with a simple system like this? I had one issue when I connected 8 boxes together and as it is with these things, it was MY FAULT since I didn't make the connection. Simple fix...Take your time and do it right. Been on 4 tours with these hooked up and zero issues. **I did have a broken screwdriver in my first package (which I actually complained about and Boss sent me a bunch of stuff) I bought 2 kits eventually and had another screwdriver that worked - so all good :)

I grabbed a few of these to build my 8-10 pedal board from the ground up and spent a lot of time researching the many different brands. Originally I was drawn to Boss because it won best in show at NAMM when it was announced. I tried the planet waves kit last year with no luck At all, my friends use George L’s and Love em but the price is high. So I settled on boss and thought I’d give it a try. I’d say I have to give them a 8/10 with one major factor being a noticeable negative that all these brands seem to avoid talking about. Trimming and setting the cable into the plug isn’t too bad, putting the little screw in that acts as the ground when properly installed is key. It doesn’t simply secure the cable but must make contact with the inner wiring. Boss just glosses over the very specific and detailed way to put these together reliably. #1 making a slit with a knife where the screw will go so it’s makes better contact is helpful. #2 testing the sleeve and tip with a multimeter is paramount. It’s not rocket science, but if your just following the back of the package, you’ll spend four frustrating hours getting no where like I did. All in all, the Best Buy for you buck when it comes to cable kits.

This is a DIY kit. At the end of the day, it will work as well as any DIY kit will. The quality of the cables and the connectors are just fine. Being a soldier less joint, you really need to make sure the joint is pushed in tight, but otherwise they work fine. Be sure to check cables with a multimeter during install. When installed correctly, I found that these cables had lower resistance readings than the other ?pro? cables on my board. I only had 1 cable out of 12 that exhibited a volume drop, and it was because I installed it with a partial short between the hot wire and the shroud. The solution? Snip off 1/8 inch of the faulty cable and reinstall the jack. Easy as that. With some care and patience, a simple multimeter and basic skill, this product works great.

I've spent probably and hour and a half to build 4 cables that I test, doesn't work, unscrew the screws, reseat the cable in the socket end, do the same to the other end, test again, not working... and repeat. Very frustrating. I had some cables I made had a very week signal ... half the volume of a soldered cable. I'd be weary about using this on a pro board.

I have this solderless cable and the quality is not there. it's too soft, the connection is too sensitive and I would not count on it. I usually use George L's which is superb at any class. it's expensive, can do it's job but in this case I prefer to solder...
