I run my amp, microphone and drum machine into this unit and monitor with headphones. Does this great. Now it just sounds like a dude singing in his apartment. Nobody can hear the guitar or drums. Does exactly what I wanted to do and it's USB. So if you need to monitor silent practices, this will work great. Just get some decent headphones or in-ear monitors - noise cancelling is a must.

I bought this to get an extra channel for my FB Live/TicToc feeds. It works without issue and I really like these new 5 volt powered mixers! It can literally go any where you have a power bank for simple setups!

Purchased to provide separate voice and instrument sound tuning for a solo performance. The phantom power served to power the DI box for the ukulele. A wireless headset mic was fed into Chan 2 XLR input. My iPad playlist provided mood music through Channel 3/4 before the performance began. I was very pleased with the quality of the sound. And a very reasonable price for the features provided in such a quality unit.

Good audio quality for a 16-bit audio interface. The single chip TI PCM2900C Stereo USB 2 codec is rated at 89dB SNR and Dynamic Range on its ADC 96/93 dB respectively for its DAC. The analogue circuitry surrounding it degrades that very little according to the Oblique Audio RTL Utility; its test of a loopback from Stereo Out to CH1 reported a -88dB noise floor. The round trip latency from a Windows 10 laptop through this path was recorded as 8.3 ms at 48kHz sample rate and 64-sample buffer. A 48 sample buffer registered at 7.6 ms but RTLU called it suspect. A 32-sample buffer caused buzzing. Those tests were done with the ART ASIO 1.1 driver by CEntrance included on CD-ROM along with Audacity. Using ASIO4ALL, the latency is higher. Mic gains seem ample for my condenser and dynamic mics, even for a cheap lavalier that is useless with USB audio adapter plugs I have. My condensers require 48V phantom which this mixer provides while some other bus-powered units provide only 24, 15 or even 5. The mixer works fine USB-powered from my Windows laptop but there's not enough juice in my Raspberry Pi 4B for it. Happily, MIX4 has a port for 5VDC power and comes with an AC adapter which empowered it to work with the Pi. While described as a 4-channel mixer, that seems misleading as you can simultaneously send to the computer (and Stereo Out) Ch1, Ch2, Ch3-4 and Aux MP3 In. By my count that is 6 channels but there is no gain control for the Aux. On top of those, you can also mix in the USB input from the computer, which does have a level control, for a total of 8-channels into the Main Mix bus. So it's more accurate to say 2 line-level stereo pairs plus two mic/line pannable mono channels plus a USB pair. However, your application may preclude you from using all simultaneously because of echo or feedback or monitoring limitations. The user manual is wrong about the MAIN MIX control: it has no effect on the USB send level nor the STEREO OUT. It is a monitor level control between the Mix Bus and the jacks you would connect to your monitor system, just as the PHONES-MONITOR is a level control between the Mix Bus and the PHONES and Headset jacks. There is no master gain control for the USB send and STEREO OUT - they get the sum of all 8 inputs to the Mix Bus. Nor is there an AUX out. The build quality seems good and sturdy. Pots feel good. My one concern may be the 3.5mm jacks but their high mechanical resistance could indicate good contact pressure. And who knows how long switches will hold up. All in all, I'm quite happy with my purchase and am intrigued that the price is much more competitive in Canada than it is elsewhere.

This little mixer has a ton of possibilities and does have an recognize ASIO driver available on the website. However I’m not sure if this is an isolated issue or possibly a problem across the line. But when recording a stereo 2 track signal through input 1 and 2, I’m experiencing a opposite phase issue on one of the channels. It becomes very obvious when you send a mono signal into both CH 1 and 2. It is very evident when you examine the wave form in a recording software. I also experience a mulling effect as you start to bring the channels pan back to center. Not sure if others are seeing this. But I would love to get this one replaced and to make sure this is an isolated issue. Thanks

Great mixer, never had any trouble other then a buzz when the gain is turned all the way up but the pad option fixes that. Great mixer for the price I must say!

We use these for remote collaboration among band members to create compiled performances in a video. My bandmates use these to record their parts in an iPad or iPhone video, and send it to me where I can take each channel into my DAW as a separate track and mix like we had been together in the studio. It works with this device because it sends CH1 and 2 DRY signals out the USB. Thus a band member can plug the mic into Input 1, the guitar into Input 2, the backing track into the Aux, the USB into the iPad Camera USB adapter dongle - and what I get back is a video with good quality audio where L channel is only the voice and R channel is only the guitar, both in sync with the common backing track that we all use. I strip out the L and R channels from all the videos, mix the song, and make a six-panel video with sound coming from the combined result. CAUTION: The only problem is that there is a fault in the firmware currently (June 2020) in that the supposedly "dry" signal is tapped after the EQ and pan, meaning that you have to pan Inputs 1 and 2 full L and R, and set EQ knobs at 0 to keep the tracks truly dry. Makes it useless for recording dry when actually performing in front of an audience. Otherwise, I would have rated the features and quality 5.

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
